Book Exotic Nuclei Exon 2001 Proceedings Of The International Symposium

Download or read book Exotic Nuclei Exon 2001 Proceedings Of The International Symposium written by Evgeni A Cherepanov and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002-05-15 with total page 767 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of talks presented at the International Symposium on Exotic Nuclei, held at Lake Baikal, Russia, on 24 - 28 July 2001. The talks were given by the leading scientists in the physics of exotic nuclei.Among the topics of the Symposium were the following: production and study of properties of nuclei in extreme states, strongly deformed nuclei, highly excited nuclei and nuclei far from the line of stability as well as nuclei having large angular momenta.New results of investigations are presented in the book — in particular, the data on new nuclei with proton or neutron haloes, on the changes in the shell structure of nuclei near the drip lines, and on the structure of exotic nuclei, including information on the island of inversion. The latest results on the synthesis of new superheavy elements are also provided, and existing detecting devices and accelerators of exotic nuclei, as well as future projects for the creation of similar set-ups, are presented.

Book International Nuclear Physics Conference 1995 Nuclear Physics At The Frontiers Of Knowledge

Download or read book International Nuclear Physics Conference 1995 Nuclear Physics At The Frontiers Of Knowledge written by Jincheng Xu and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996-05-11 with total page 877 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Nuclear Physics Conference, held every three years, is the most pretigeous meeting of nuclear physics. Its programme covers the whole range of nuclear physics and some application, such as relativistic nuclear collisions, mesons and baryons in nuclei, hadron structure and quarks in nuclei, formation and properties of hot nuclei, nuclear reactions at low and intermediate energy, nuclear structure, radioactive nuclear beams, nuclear astrophysics, fundamental interaction and symmetries, experimental technique and new facilities, and applied nuclear physics. The proceedings is a collection of all invited talks on the plenary and parallel sessions. Presented by the leading scientists in their fields, these talks summarized the most recent progress and future prospects in all the aspects of nuclear physics.

Book The Euroschool Lectures on Physics with Exotic Beams

Download or read book The Euroschool Lectures on Physics with Exotic Beams written by J.S. Al-Khalili and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-08-12 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research with radioactive ion beams has entered a new era with the advent of energetic beams of radioactive nuclei able to induce nuclear reactions. The present book is the first volume of edited lectures based on material presented at the Euroschool on Exotic Beams over the past years. It introduces the graduate student and nonspecialist scientist from related areas to various topics encompassing theoretical, experimental as well as application-related aspects of this growing field of research.

Book Exciting Interdisciplinary Physics

Download or read book Exciting Interdisciplinary Physics written by Walter Greiner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-07-08 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear physics is an exciting, broadly faceted field. It spans a wide range of topics, reaching from nuclear structure physics to high-energy physics, astrophysics and medical physics (heavy ion tumor therapy). New developments are presented in this volume and the status of research is reviewed. A major focus is put on nuclear structure physics, dealing with superheavy elements and with various forms of exotic nuclei: strange nuclei, very neutron rich nuclei, nuclei of antimatter. Also quantum electrodynamics of strong fields is addressed, which is linked to the occurrence of giant nuclear systems in, e.g., U+U collisions. At high energies nuclear physics joins with elementary particle physics. Various chapters address the theory of elementary matter at high densities and temperature, in particular the quark gluon plasma which is predicted by quantum chromodynamics (QCD) to occur in high-energy heavy ion collisions. In the field of nuclear astrophysics, the properties of neutron stars and quark stars are discussed. A topic which transcends nuclear physics is discussed in two chapters: The proposed pseudo-complex extension of Einstein's General Relativity leads to the prediction that there are no black holes and that big bang cosmology has to be revised. Finally, the interdisciplinary nature of this volume is further accentuated by chapters on protein folding and on magnetoreception in birds and many other animals.
