Book Advances In Nuclear Physics Proceedings Of The International Symposium

Download or read book Advances In Nuclear Physics Proceedings Of The International Symposium written by Dorin Poenaru and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000-06-27 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interest in understanding the physical world that we live in, the origin of its formation and evolution, is reflected in the world-wide activities in Europe, the USA and Japan to set up powerful research facilities providing beams of radioactive nuclei of various kinds, and beams of extremely large energies. At the same time, complex and large detector arrays with improved technical capabilities are built either around these facilities or independently (dedicated to cosmic rays). Recently, spectacular progress has been made in superheavy nuclei, cold binary and ternary fission, nuclear shell structure and nuclear astrophysics, to mention only a few directions. The energy spectrum of cosmic rays exceeds the upper limits provided by artificial accelerators. An international collaboration has committed itself to the installation of an extremely large area detector array, AUGER, in order to study the highest particle energies in the Universe.

Book News 99 Proceedings Of The International Symposium On Nuclear Electro weak Spectroscopy For Symmetries In Electro weak Nuclear processes

Download or read book News 99 Proceedings Of The International Symposium On Nuclear Electro weak Spectroscopy For Symmetries In Electro weak Nuclear processes written by Kichiji Hatanaka and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002-09-10 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The NEWS 99 international symposium discusses symmetries in electroweak processes in nuclei. Many phenomena in nuclear and particle physics are related to symmetry. It is known that we are living in a left-handed world as far as the Weak interaction is concerned, but neutrino physics suggests that a right-handed world may also be relevant. Chiral symmetry and its breaking plays an essential role in generating hadron masses. Symmetries related to flavor in the strong interaction like isospin, SU(3) and so on are known to be violated although they play a crucial role for the understanding of phenomena in nuclear and particle physics. The treatment of tiny breaking is of particular importance. Weak and electromagnetic interactions are well established at the fundamental level and can be used to probe the structure of nuclei and hadrons.A wide variety of phenomena in nuclear and particle physics were discussed in NEWS 99 with an emphasis on symmetry. Topics ranged from nuclear structure to neutrino properties, covering highly phenomenological to fundamental fields.

Book Proceedings of the Sendai International Symposium

Download or read book Proceedings of the Sendai International Symposium written by Kazushige Maeda and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is based on the proceedings of the International Symposium on "Strangeness in Nuclear and Hadronic Systems (SENDAI08)," which is the third in a series of symposia on nuclear physics involving strangeness following SENDAI98 and SENDAI03. With the expectation of the completion of new accelerator facilities such as J-PARC and other new experimental facilities, recent theoretical and experimental results and future prospects of strangeness nuclear physics are discussed in great depth by leading experts of the field. The topics involved are electromagnetic production of strangeness, structure and decay of hypernuclei, hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon interactions, among others. It will also serve as a good textbook for studying the current status of strangeness in nuclear and hadronic physics.

Book International Conference on Nuclear Structure

Download or read book International Conference on Nuclear Structure written by A. Van Der Woude and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Conference on Nuclear Structure presents the status of research in nuclear structure. This book covers the more traditional topics, including giant resonances, high-spin states, current and momentum distributions in nuclei, and single particle and collective excitations at low excitation energy. Organized into eight sessions, this book begins with an overview of the experiments with low momentum antiprotons. This text then examines the interaction between two free nucleons, which can be described by their scattering matrix, by their scattering cross sections, or by relativistic or nonrelativistic potentials. Other sessions consider the results on neutron-hole states in the Zr, Sn, and Pb region from pic-up measurements. This book discusses as well the progress in the investigation of high-spin magnetic observables in medium and heavy nuclei. The final chapter deals with the methods of performing measurements of neutrino masses. This book is a valuable resource for nuclear physicists, scientists, and research workers.
