Book Proceedings of the 33rd International MATADOR Conference

Download or read book Proceedings of the 33rd International MATADOR Conference written by David R. Hayhurst and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: by Conference Chairman n1 It is my pleasure to introduce this volume of Proceedings for the 33 MATADOR Conference. The Proceedings include 83 refereed papers submitted from 19 countries on 4 continents. 00 The spread of papers in this volume reflects four developments since the 32 MATADOR Conference in 1997: (i) the power of information technology to integrate the management and control of manufacturing systems; (ii) international manufacturing enterprises; (iii) the use of computers to integrate different aspects of manufacturing technology; and, (iv) new manufacturing technologies. New developments in the manufacturing systems area are globalisation and the use of the Web to achieve virtual enterprises. In manufacturing technology the potential of the following processes is being realised: rapid proto typing, laser processing, high-speed machining, and high-speed machine tool design. And, at the same time in the area of controls and automation, the flexibility and integration ability of open architecture computer controllers are creating a wide range of opportunities for novel solutions. Up-to-date research results in these and other areas are presented in this volume. The Proceedings reflect the truly international nature of this Conference and the way in which original research results are both collected and disseminated. The volume does not, however, record the rich debate and extensive scientific discussion which took place during the Conference. I trust that you will find this volume to be a permanent record of some of the research carried out in the last two years; and.

Book Bio Locomotion Interfaces and Biologization Potential in 4 D Printing

Download or read book Bio Locomotion Interfaces and Biologization Potential in 4 D Printing written by Abdel-Aal, Hisham A. and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2024-08-29 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the evolving market of product design, the optimization of surface patterns is a crucial factor in determining the functionality of future products. However, despite numerous surface designs introduced in recent years, the field remains significantly underdeveloped. The absence of systematic and well-defined methodologies for generating deterministic topologies has turned the design of surfaces into more of an art than a precise science. This deficiency is further exacerbated by a dominant design culture that attempts to tame nature rather than establish harmonious coexistence within the Man Engineered Systems Domain (MESD). The challenge lies in the lack of a holistic surface design methodology that can merge function, form, and topography to produce optimized constructs capable of efficient operation within an envelope of constraints. Bio-Locomotion Interfaces and Biologization Potential in 4-D Printing is a comprehensive solution to the challenges faced in biomimetic surface design. This groundbreaking book recognizes the underdeveloped state of the field and proposes a trans-disciplinary approach that seamlessly integrates engineering, physics, and biology. It addresses the need for a new surface design methodology, emphasizing the importance of generating bio-inspired functional surfaces in MESD. Unlike existing approaches that rely on mere bio-mimicry, this book delves into the core of design generation, emphasizing the implementation of design rules rather than the replication of natural constructions. It is the ultimate guide for scholars seeking to bridge the gap between biology and engineering and acquire the methodologies needed to deduce design rules and construct deterministic surfaces inspired by bio-analogues.

Book Magnesium and Its Alloys

Download or read book Magnesium and Its Alloys written by Leszek A. Dobrzanski and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-08-01 with total page 619 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Magnesium and Its Alloys: Technology and Applications covers a wide scope of topics related to magnesium science and engineering, from manufacturing and production to finishing and applications. This handbook contains thirteen chapters, each contributed by experts in their respective fields, and presents a broad spectrum of new information on pure magnesium, magnesium alloys, and magnesium matrix MgMCs composites. It covers such topics as computational thermodynamics, modern Mg-alloys with enhanced creep or fatigue properties, cutting-edge approaches to melt treating (grain refinement, micro-alloying, and the resulting solidification and growth), coatings, surface engineering, environmental protection (recycling and green energy storage and production), as well as biomedical applications. Aimed at researchers, professionals, and graduate students, the book conveys comprehensive and cutting-edge knowledge on magnesium alloys. It is especially useful to those in the fields of materials engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, and metallurgy.

Book Sheet Bulk Metal Forming

Download or read book Sheet Bulk Metal Forming written by Marion Merklein and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-04 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the findings of research projects from the Transregional Collaborative Research Centre 73. These proceedings are the result of years of research into sheet–bulk metal forming. The book discusses the challenges posed by simulating sheet–bulk metal forming. It takes into account the different phenomena characteristic to both sheet and bulk forming fields, and explores the demands this makes on modelling the processes. It then summarizes the research, and presents from a practitioner's point of view. This means the book is of interest to and helps both academics and industrial engineers within the field of sheet–bulk metal forming.
