This book was released on 1998 with total page 644 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Association on the Genesis of Ore Deposits (IAGOD) has produced an outstanding series of eight proceedings volumes from their quadrennial meetings held in various countries around the world. The IAGOD proceedings volumes are the most important quadrennial international volumes on ore deposits. This ninth proceedings volume contains 49 full-size papers selected from 900 papers submitted for the 9th IAGOD Symposium held in Beijing, China. More than 300 geoscientists from 42 countries and regions attended that very successful quadrennial IAGOD meeting. This volume is an important contribution to the literature on ore deposits, and is a volume which should be of interest to economic geologists, mineralogists, structural geologists, petrologists and geochemists.

Book Mn Manganese

    Book Details:
  • Author : Wolfgang Töpper

  • Release : 2013-06-29

Download or read book Mn Manganese written by Wolfgang Töpper and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume is the first of a series describing Mn minerals. There has been no attempt to provide a thorough (bibliographically complete) coverage of the literature. Rather, a selection of papers was undertaken to cover especially the various aspects of occurrence and genesis. Papers that only mention an occurrence of a minerat species without additional data will not be taken into account, except if they represent an unusual type of occurrence. The volume starts with a brief outline of the chemical and geo-/cosmochemical character istics of Mn; its abundance and distribution in the cosmos and on earth; and its distribution in minerals. The main part describes the native metal, its solid solutions with Fe or Al, and silicides and carbide; the sulfides and related compounds; the halogenides and oxyhalogenides; and the oxides of type MO. The minerat descriptions comprise the following topics: occurrence (comprising data on paragenesis, intergrowths, inclusions, and alteration); chemistry (comprising complete analysis, formula, diadochy, and the relationship be tween composition and type of geological occurrence or composition and physical proper lies); crystal form and structure; optical and other physical properties; and chemical and thermal behavior. Book Minerals and Allied Natural Resources and their Sustainable Development

Download or read book Minerals and Allied Natural Resources and their Sustainable Development written by Mihir Deb and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-06-19 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonrenewable natural resources – metallic and non-metallic minerals, industrial rocks and energy resources (both organic and inorganic), have been treated in a holistic manner in this book, including two important resources (soil and water), not commonly covered in most books on this topic. For the uninitiated reader, an introductory chapter looks into some basic definitions as well as nature and characteristics of mineral deposits followed by a chapter on the different crustal processes that produce the various ore deposits in the endogenous and exogenous environments. The strength of the book lies in its critical treatment of the genetic processes of the mineral deposits, their classification and the geodynamic context of metallogeny, and coverage of sustainable development of mineral deposits with special reference to various socio-economic as well as regulatory and environmental issues that face the Indian mining industry today. The text is punctuated with examples of Indian deposits, balanced with classical deposits around the world, to cater to the interests of Indian students and the international readership. This is a book for advanced undergraduate and post-graduate students of Geology, Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management.

Book Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Gems

Download or read book Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Gems written by Panagiotis Voudouris and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-03-10 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gems have been used in the manufacture of jewellery and as ornaments since antiquity. Considering gems, recent statistics have shown that about 15 billion Euros are annually at stake. Nowadays, gemmology, i.e., the study of gem materials, is one of the most expanding fields in the earth sciences, positioned between academia and industry. As an applied science, in gemmology, the instruments used should be non- or microdestructive, and their cost should be reasonable both in terms of equipment and time consumption. Gemmology can also be used contribute to the development of pure science and in some cases, destructive techniques may have to be used. Taking into account the fact that gems are albeit rarely available for scientific research, this compilation of 20 articles by around 100 researchers from over 30 different institutions situated in 20 countries from around the globe, presented in the Special Issue entitled “Mineralogy and Geochemistry of Gems”, offers very good examples on the application of various methods for their study which will hopefully contribute to our better understanding of gem formation in general and will enhance scientific debates attracting more scientists from various disciplines to get involved in this field.

Book excerpt: This volume contains 11 case studies of toxic waste repositories that use geologic isolation in order to accomplish the permanent and safe isolation of dangerous materials. It describes past and currently active facilities and also discusses generic considerations of the isolation capability of average crustal rock, apparently in an effort to convince audiences of the safety of these facilities.
