The keynote paper by Professor Baumgarten of the Technical University of Berlin considered trends in German industry, and application papers went on to discuss the use of AGVs in flexible manufacturing, including the use of AGVS and AS/RS in integrated factory automation. Technical papers considered, amongst other topics, artificial intelligence techniques in AGVS, ultrasonic guidance of autonomous vehicles and autonomous robots for hazardous environments. The final session looked at planning techniques, including a flexible AGVS simulator and a rational approach for evaluating the number of AGVs. Invited contributors from Europe, North America and Asia gathered to make this a truly international event.

Book excerpt: Biological Basis of Geriatric Oncology highlights research issues that are specific to geriatric oncology in the field of carcinogenesis and cancer prevention and treatment, based on the biologic interactions of cancer and age. It illustrates the benefit of the principles of geriatrics in the management of cancer in the older individual. This volume provides a frame of reference for practicioners of any specialties involved in the management of older patients and for oncologists involved in the management of cancer of older individuals. It is a source for basic and clinical scientists exploring the interactions and emerging information of cancer and aging.

Download or read book Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Informatics Technology and Engineering 2023 InCITE 2023 written by Markus Hartono and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-18 with total page 667 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an open access book.Adaptive, Resilient & Collaborative EngineeringTowards Faster Recovery & Impactful Solutions The world in the last decade has been facing global issues such as accelerated global warming, depleting natural resources, food waste and scarcity, water contamination and shortage, energy conservation, etc. Enter the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and we face what people term as double disruption. Not only solutions to the above problems are becoming more critical, but they are also needed fast. Timely and effective solutions are called for so that we can recover from the pandemic while at the same time carry our efforts to better our world. It is no longer sufficient to find solutions that can only delay the negative impacts from the above problems, but it is imperative to tip the balance and reverse the impacts to our advantage. Engineers and engineering have a vital role in inventing mechanisms, systems, and/or products that can address the solutions. Digital technologies and artificial intelligence have been at the forefront of such exploration and we can expect some hints for a better future, if we continue being adaptive, resilient, and collaborative. Given the above background, Faculty of Engineering - Universitas Surabaya, will host the fourth bi-annual international conference “The 4th International Conference on Informatics, Technology and Engineering 2023 (InCITE 2023)” in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, September 14th–15th, 2023. This event is a continuation of the past events successfully held in 2017, 2019, and 2021. We invite academia and business practitioners all around the globe to share ideas and best practices relevant to the above conference topic. We hope that this event can also serve as a platform of gathering for anyone interested in exploring potential solutions of our common problems today. Accepted and presented paper will be submitted for publication in reputable International Proceeding (Atlantis Press). See you in Yogyakarta!

Book Design and Development of Intelligent Robot

Download or read book Design and Development of Intelligent Robot written by Yao Chen and published by YAO CHEN. This book was released on 2011-06 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This project introduces a complete process to develop an intelligent robot which achieves a nimble movement in an unknown environment, measures the environment parameters such as temperature, relative humidity and topography, and communicates with the remote terminal. The data processing and major control is achieved by a saving cost and low power 8-bit microcontroller AT89C52 from Atmel. Sensors designed by 2-wire bus and a 1-wire bus technology are applied for the robot. Simulation method is achieved using PROTUES (LABCENTER ELECTRONIC Ltd) as a virtual in circuit emulator with KEIL (ARM Ltd) as a debugger.

Book Material Flow Systems in Manufacturing

Download or read book Material Flow Systems in Manufacturing written by J.M. Tanchoco and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a collection of contributions related to the design and control of material flow systems in manufacturing. Material flow systems in manufacturing covers a broad spectrum of topics directly affecting issues related to facilities design, material handling and production planning and control. In selecting the papers to include in this book, the scope was limited to the design and operational control aspects related to the physical move ment of parts, tools, containers and material handling devices. Recent develop ments in this area naturally led to concentration on flow systems involving cellular manufacturing, and automated transport equipment such as automated guided vehicles. However, the concepts discussed have general applicability to a wide range of manufacturing flow problems. The book is organized in five major sections: 1. design integration and justification; 2. cell design and material handling considerations; 3. alternative material flow paths; 4. operational control problems; and 5. tooling requirements and transport equipment.
