Book Pervasive Communications Handbook

Download or read book Pervasive Communications Handbook written by Syed Ijlal Ali Shah and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-09-29 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an emergency, availability of the pervasive communications environment could mean the difference between life and death. Possibly one of the first guides to comprehensively explore these futuristic omnipresent communications networks, the Pervasive Communications Handbook addresses current technology (i.e., MAC protocols and P2P-based VoD architecture) and developments expected in the very near future, when most people and places will be virtually connected through a constant and perpetual exchange of information. This monumental advance in communications is set to dramatically change daily life, in areas ranging from healthcare, transportation, and education to commerce and socialization. With contributions from dozens of pioneering experts, this important reference discusses one-to-one, one-to-many, and many-to-one exchanges of information. Organized by the three key aspects—technology, architecture, and applications—the book explores enabling technologies, applications and services, location and mobility management, and privacy and trust. Citing the technology’s importance to energy distribution, home automation, and telecare among other areas, it delves into topics such as quality of service, security, efficiency, and reliability in mobile network design, and environment interoperability.

Book Context Aware Pervasive Systems and Applications

Download or read book Context Aware Pervasive Systems and Applications written by Parikshit N. Mahalle and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-09-19 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook explores the current challenges in and future prospects of context-aware pervasive systems and applications. The phenomenal advances in broadband technology and ubiquitous access to the Internet have transformed Internet computing into the Internet of Things (IoT), which is now evolving toward the Internet of Everything. Modern scientific, engineering, and business applications are increasingly dependent on machine-to-machine communication, wherein there is less human intervention. In turn, this creates a need for context-aware pervasive systems and applications in which RFID, sensors, and smartphones play a key role. The book provides an essential overview of context, context management, and how to perform context management in various use cases. In addition, it addresses context-aware computing and personalization, various architectures for context-aware systems, and security issues. The content is explained using straightforward language and easy-to-follow examples, case studies, technical descriptions, procedures, algorithms, and protocols for context-aware systems.

Book Software Architecture System Design Development and Maintenance

Download or read book Software Architecture System Design Development and Maintenance written by Jan Bosch and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more and more systems, software has moved from a peripheral to a central role, replacing mechanical parts and hardware and giving the product a competitive edge. Consequences of this trend are an increase in: the size of software systems, the variability in software artifacts, and the importance of software in achieving the system-level properties. Software architecture provides the necessary abstractions for managing the resulting complexity. We here introduce the Third Working IEEFlIFIP Conference on Software Architecture, WICSA3. That it is already the third such conference is in itself a clear indication that software architecture continues to be an important topic in industrial software development and in software engineering research. However, becoming an established field does not mean that software architecture provides less opportunity for innovation and new directions. On the contrary, one can identify a number of interesting trends within software architecture research. The first trend is that the role of the software architecture in all phases of software development is more explicitly recognized. Whereas initially software architecture was primarily associated with the architecture design phase, we now see that the software architecture is treated explicitly during development, product derivation in software product lines, at run-time, and during system evolution. Software architecture as an artifact has been decoupled from a particular lifecycle phase.
