Therefore, the Master of Public Administration program organize an international seminars and conferences entitled ‘Globalization and the Challenges of Public Administration in the Post Covid 19 amid intense geopolitical competition’. The whole series of virtual international seminar and conference is open to students, lecturers, researchers, policy makers, and practitioners who are interested in issues related to Administrative Science to share their work and ideas. Participants will present their paper work in English. Non-presenting participants are allowed to choose discussion groups according to their respective interests, and thus the seminar will be a good opportunity to receive feedback for the presented papers. and stay informed about trends and research agendas in the field.

In the era of globalization and economic liberalization, the free trade applies and begins to be implemented, such as the Asian Economic Community (AEC), the inflow and outflow of food, beverage, drug and cosmetic products circulating in the world community is increasing rapidly. Indeed, the halal products circulated and traded cannot be confirmed so that they do not give a sense of peace, security, comfort, and are suitable for consumption by Muslim consumers. The circulation of various products on the market, both in the form of finished products and raw materials, especially those sourced from animals, either directly or derived from animals, has made it difficult for the Muslim community to trace the halalness of a product. People are also weak in understanding the ingredients and the production process of a food product. Thus, efforts to provide consumer protection, especially Muslim consumers, are very important and urgent. Therefore, it is the duty of the state to protect its citizens, according to the mandate of the constitution above. With this condition, the need for halal certification is getting stronger considering that Muslim consumers are increasingly critical and need certainty of the halalness of the food products they consume, both in terms of materials and production processes to packaging and distribution. For this reason, halal certification of food, beverage, drug and cosmetic products is very important. Halal certification is a necessity to provide certainty about the halalness of a product so that the rights and interests of Muslim consumers to carry out their religious sharia not to consume non-halal products will be guaranteed. This regulation on the protection of Muslim consumer rights has also been mandated in Law Number 18 of 2012 concerning Food. Furthermore, food safety, quality, nutrition and halal are the rights of Muslim consumers which are protected by law and become a government program in food development to meet the most important basic human needs and their fulfillment is part of the human rights of every Indonesian people.

Theme: Sustainable economies in the information economy. Purpose: To share the quality academic papers presented at the International Conference on Business and Management Dynamics (ICBMD) held from 7 to 8 September 2016 at African Pride Crystal Hotel and Spa in Cape Town. As grey literature, the proceedings are the contributions made by researchers at the conference and are considered the written record of the work that was presented to fellow conference delegates. Methodology: The methodology used varies from researcher to researcher but are suitable for the studies conducted. Thus, on the one hand, studies that were subjective in nature used the interpretive paradigm, where the qualitative approach adopted made used of the interview method to collect data. On the other hand, studies that were objectively inclined adopted the positivist philosophy and used survey questionnaires to collect data. However, there were some academic papers which used mixed methodology because of the nature of the study. Whatever methodology used adhered to the ethos of the philosophies underpinning the methodology. Contribution made to scholarship: The articles come from individual researchers and each article in the proceedings is unique. Mostly, there is no general argument leading from one contribution to the next. However, it is interesting to note that in the area of economic performance it was evident that real exchange rate and net foreign direct investment contribute more towards innovations in economic growth. With regard to human capital development, papers presented evidence that there exists a definite need to explore the phenomenon of personal branding as limited scientific academic research has been done within the field of personal branding or on elements of the topic. Thus, the outcome argues that personal branding has an influence on leadership style which in turn impacts on organisational performance and related hygiene factors. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that current methods or strategies for enforcing institutionalisation of knowledge sharing within an organisation have not been successful, and, as such, new strategies are needed to reinforce efforts to nurture and invigorate the institutionalisation of knowledge sharing within an organisation. With regard to technology and big data impact on organisational performance, it was evident that system performance, memory consumption and CPU utilisation can be used as criteria to compare and evaluate big data technologies to improve organisational performance. Most of the articles’ contribution reemphasised technology education and training as a means of digitising business and improving effectiveness. Target audience: The target readership is academic researchers and business leaders who require access to the latest developments in the fields of economics, information management, business, education, development studies, social sciences and technology. It is also for policymakers and other stakeholders who need a better understanding of the impact of new developments on existing policies and regulations for their review or amendment.

In addition, future-oriented research is of the utmost importance for informed public debate about technological developments with far reaching societal implications. This book marks the 25th anniversary of the permanent study group on e-government of the European Group for Public Administration, and the papers here were first presented at their 2012 meeting in Bucharest, Romania. The invited authors were not asked for rigorous analyses based on systematic empirical research or deeply rooted in a theoretical framework; instead they were challenged to write thoughtful and measured, but provocative, essays about ICT and public administration in the coming decade. This book deals with the application of these e-participation ideas in the special and ‘difficult’, and at the same time highly interesting, national context of Southern Europe and the Balkans. The first chapter provides an overview of e-participation concepts and practices whilst the following chapters analyse pilot applications of e-participation concepts in eight different Southern European and Balkan countries (Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Albania, Greece, Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)).
