This book was released on 1994 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Third International Workshop on Computational Electronics was he'd at the Benson Hotel in downtown Portland, Oregon, on May 18, 19, and 20, 1994. The workshop was devoted to a broad range of current issues in computational electronics related to the simulation of electronic transport in semiconductors and semiconductor devices, particularly those which require large computational resources. There were over 100 participants in the Portland workshop, of which more than one quarter represented research groups outside of the United States including Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The emphasis of tbe contributions reflects the interdisciplinary nature of computational electronics with researchers from the chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics communities participating in the workshop.

This book was released on 1993 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1993 International Workshop on Computational Electronics took place at Leeds in England. The aim of the workshop is to allow researchers to focus on the computational aspects of solid-state device modelling. This encompasses new device and carrier transport models, numerical and computational techniques, computational implementation of transport theory (including quantum), developments in modelling electronic structures, new techniques in computer visualization of models. This year an underlying theme associated with compound semiconductor devices was adopted, but contributions on all aspects of solid- state modelling for all types of material were invited.

Book excerpt: A unique study of several previously reported computer simulations which solve the Boltzmann Transport Equation (BTE) for electrons in silicon has been completed. A total of 47 individuals representing 19 laboratories in 6 countries participated in this comparison, with a total of 21 data sets contributed. Most of the simulations are based on the Monte Carlo particle technique, and have been used here to calculate a set of transport characteristics for intrinsic silicon at room temperature with a homogeneous electric field. From a global perspective the results vary widely, but they provide for the first time a quantitative comparison of many silicon transport models. If we group the data sets according to their bandstructure models and compare groups to one another the separate effects of bandstructure and phonon scattering rates can be seen. In the group of full-band models we observe a striking and unexpected agreement between 4 of the data sets, and the possible significance of this observation will be discussed.

Book Fifth International Workshop on Computational Electronics

Download or read book Fifth International Workshop on Computational Electronics written by and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fifth International Workshop on Computational Electronics (IWCE-5) was held on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, May 28-30, 1997. As in previous IWCE meetings, the workshop covered all aspects of advanced simulation of electronic transport in semiconductors and semiconductor devices, particularly those which use large computational resources. More specifically, IWCE-5 focused on the following three major themes: (1) Device Simulation, (2) Optoelectronics, and (3) Quantum Simulation. IWCE-5 attracted 168 registered participants, and featured 15 invited speakers, 40 oral presentations, and 75 poster papers. As a novelty, IWCE-5 included an evening session with hands-on software demonstrations. Sponsorship for IWCE-5 was provided by the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research, the Army Research Office, and the Notre Dame Department of Electrical Engineering and the College of Engineering. These funds were used for invited speakers (travel, registration, and lodging), partial student travel support, publication and mailing costs (including the abstract booklet and the forthcoming proceedings), conference facilities, and for local support (supplies and travel to NCCE at the Beckman Institute for W. Porod).

This book was released on 2002 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Journal of Computation Electronics fills the need tor a publication dedicated to physical simulation of devices and processes, with a focus on interdisciplinary work and large scale supercomputing applications. The community typically attending IWCE best represents the audience addressed by the Journal of Computational Electronics, but the composition of this community has grown over the years to include even more discipline areas. The emphasis of the first workshops was on classical device simulation approaches (drift-diffusion and hydrodynamics models) and particle Monte Carlo methods, while other areas have gained increasing importance at following meetings. These areas include quantum transport and quantum device simulation, opto-electronics, process simulation and, more recently, molecular devices, MEMS and transport in biological ion channels. Rapid technological advances in new directions of research and the widespread availability of high performance computers and clusters, have clearly challenged the computational electronics community to address simulation problems of increasing complexity in the nano-technology area. These efforts require even more contributions from other fields of expertise, from heat transfer and micro-fluidics to computational chemistry and computational biology.
