Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The annual conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS) is the flagship conference on neural computation. It draws preeminent academic researchers from around the world and is widely considered to be a showcase conference for new developments in network algorithms and architectures. The broad range of interdisciplinary research areas represented includes computer science, neuroscience, statistics, physics, cognitive science, and many branches of engineering, including signal processing and control theory. Only about 30 percent of the papers submitted are accepted for presentation at NIPS, so the quality is exceptionally high. These proceedings contain all of the papers that were presented.

Download or read book Interactive Distributed Multimedia Systems and Telecommunication Services written by Michel Diaz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-07-23 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1999 International Workshop on Interactive Distributed Multimedia Sys tems and Telecommunication Services (IDMS) in Toulouse is the sixth in a se ries that started in 1992. The previous workshops were held in Stuttgart in 1992, Hamburg in 1994, Berlin in 1996, Darmstadt in 1997, and Oslo in 1998. The area of interest of IDMS ranges from basic system technologies, such as networking and operating system support, to all kinds of teleservices and distributed multimedia applications. Technical solutions for telecommunications and distributed multimedia systems are merging and quality-of-service (QoS) will play a key role in both areas. However, the range from basic system tech nologies to distributed mutlimedia applications and teleservices is still very broad and we have to understand the implications of multimedia applications and their requirements for middleware and networks. We are challenged to develop new and more fitting solutions for all distributed multimedia systems and telecom munication services to meet the requirements of the future information society.

Download or read book Multi Agent System Engineering written by Francisco J. Garijo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-07-23 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the ten years since the first MAAMAW was held in 1989, at King's College, Cambridge, the field of Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) has flourished. It has attracted an increasing amount of theoretical and applied research. During this decade, important efforts have been made to establish the scientific and technical foundations of MAS. MAAMAW publications are testimony to the progress achieved in key areas such as agent modelling and reasoning, multi-agent interaction and communication, and multi-agent organisation and social structure. Research results have covered a wide range of inter-related topics in each area including agent architectures, reasoning models, logics, conflict resolution, negotiation, resource allocation, load balancing, learning; social behaviour and interaction, languages and protocols, interagent and agent-human communication, social models, agent roles, norms and social laws, and static and dynamic organisational structures. The feasibility and the viability of the proposed models and techniques have been demonstrated through MAS applications in heterogeneous domains including electronic commerce, co-operative work, telecommunications, social and biological systems, robotics, office and business automation, public administration, social simulations and banking. As the applicability of the technology became understood, the multi-agent paradigm has been progressively accepted by product managers and system developers, giving rise to a considerable amount of business expectation from industry. These expectations do not rest on the concept or metaphor of agent, but on the development of MAS useful in an industrial setting, with real-time systems presenting the biggest challenge.
Download or read book Astronomy Papyrus and Covenant written by John Laurence Gee and published by Brigham Young University Press. This book was released on 2005 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Astronomy, Papyrus, and Covenant is the third volume in the FARMS series and includes papers from a recent conference on the subject. Rather than focus on biblical interpretations of Abraham, each chapter instead explores a lesser-known aspect of Abrahamic studies: his startling visions of the heavens, comparisons between the Book of Abraham and other ancient texts, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, and an investigation into shifting interpretations of Abraham throughout nineteenth-century America. The compilation is an excellent introduction to recent scholarship on the subject and will prove to be fascinating reading.

Download or read book Secure Internet Programming written by Jan Vitek and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-10-23 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Large-scale open distributed systems provide an infrastructure for assembling global applications on the basis of software and hardware components originating from multiple sources. Open systems rely on publicly available standards to permit heterogeneous components to interact. The Internet is the archetype of a large-scale open distributed system; standards such as HTTP, HTML, and XML, together with the widespread adoption of the Java language, are the cornerstones of many distributed systems. This book surveys security in large-scale open distributed systems by presenting several classic papers and a variety of carefully reviewed contributions giving the results of new research and development. Part I provides background requirements and deals with fundamental issues in trust, programming, and mobile computations in large-scale open distributed systems. Part II contains descriptions of general concepts, and Part III presents papers detailing implementations of security concepts.

Download or read book UV Coatings written by Reinhold Schwalm and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-12-21 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since UV curing (light induced polymerisation of multifunctional oligomers) is a very ecoefficient and energy saving curing method, the growth rates of UV curable coatings are in the range of 10% per year. The typical UV coatings are solvent free (100% solids), thus helping the industry and the environment to reduce significantly VOC (volatile organic compounds). Recently, the automotive industry has discovered that UV cured coatings are very scratch resistant, which stimulated very extensive work into the development of UV coatings for automotive applications. Since UV curing is very universal, also other systems besides the 100% solid (typical) UV coatings are developed, like waterbased UV- , UV powder and Dual cure (UV and thermal) systems.UV Coatings contains an overview of the technology, the curing process including the equipment necessary, the raw materials (resins, diluents, photoinitiators) used, the advantages and drawbacks of this fast emerging technology, as well as proposed technical solutions to tackle the disadvantages. Structure-property relationships will be given, especially regarding the mechanical properties of coatings as well as scratch resistance, mainly dealing with automotive performance criteria. The main part of the book will deal with new developments, like water-based UV coatings, UV powder coatings and dual cure systems, cured by UV and thermal energy, which have been developed to cure the coating on three dimensional substrates in shadow areas. The main applications of UV Coatings will be described, starting with the classical ones on temperature sensitive substrates, like wood, paper and plastics, where the UV curable coatings are already well established.* Looking at UV curing as a key to scratch resistant automotive clear coats* Ecoefficiency of UV Coatings* Comprehensive overview of the technology, materials and markets
