Book Probabilit s statistique et processus stochastiques

Download or read book Probabilit s statistique et processus stochastiques written by Patrick Roger and published by Pearson. This book was released on 2004 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Probabilit s et processus stochastiques written by Yves Caumel and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-05-03 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Initiation aux Probabilit s written by Pierre Brémaud and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-08-25 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Mod les et m thodes stochastiques written by Pierre Del Moral and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-04-14 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Probability theory and stochastic process theory are undoubtedly among the most important mathematic tools for the modern sciences. Probability theory has applications in several fields, such as biology, physics and the engineering sciences: population dynamics, signal and image processing, molecular chemistry, econometrics, actuarial science, financial mathematics, and risk analysis. This book provides an overview of stochastic models and methods for this very active field. Stochastic process theory is a natural extension of dynamic systems to random events. The book covers the modeling of random events in physics, biology, economics and the engineering sciences, while also introducing advanced problem-solving techniques in Bayesian statistics, signal processing and rare event analysis. No scientific background in stochastic process theory is needed.

Book Statistique math matique et statistique des processus Collection m thodes stochastiques appliqu es

Download or read book Statistique math matique et statistique des processus Collection m thodes stochastiques appliqu es written by BOSQ Denis and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-06-01 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Probability Stochastic Processes and Queueing Theory

Download or read book Probability Stochastic Processes and Queueing Theory written by Randolph Nelson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 595 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We will occasionally footnote a portion of text with a "**,, to indicate Notes on the that this portion can be initially bypassed. The reasons for bypassing a Text portion of the text include: the subject is a special topic that will not be referenced later, the material can be skipped on first reading, or the level of mathematics is higher than the rest of the text. In cases where a topic is self-contained, we opt to collect the material into an appendix that can be read by students at their leisure. The material in the text cannot be fully assimilated until one makes it Notes on "their own" by applying the material to specific problems. Self-discovery Problems is the best teacher and although they are no substitute for an inquiring mind, problems that explore the subject from different viewpoints can often help the student to think about the material in a uniquely per sonal way. With this in mind, we have made problems an integral part of this work and have attempted to make them interesting as well as informative.

Book Elementary Probability Theory with Stochastic Processes

Download or read book Elementary Probability Theory with Stochastic Processes written by K. L. Chung and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past half-century the theory of probability has grown from a minor isolated theme into a broad and intensive discipline interacting with many other branches of mathematics. At the same time it is playing a central role in the mathematization of various applied sciences such as statistics, opera tions research, biology, economics and psychology-to name a few to which the prefix "mathematical" has so far been firmly attached. The coming-of-age of probability has been reflected in the change of contents of textbooks on the subject. In the old days most of these books showed a visible split personality torn between the combinatorial games of chance and the so-called "theory of errors" centering in the normal distribution. This period ended with the appearance of Feller's classic treatise (see [Feller l]t) in 1950, from the manuscript of which I gave my first substantial course in probability. With the passage of time probability theory and its applications have won a place in the college curriculum as a mathematical discipline essential to many fields of study. The elements of the theory are now given at different levels, sometimes even before calculus. The present textbook is intended for a course at about the sophomore level. It presupposes no prior acquaintance with the subject and the first three chapters can be read largely without the benefit of calculus.

Book Probability with Statistical Applications

Download or read book Probability with Statistical Applications written by Rinaldo Bruno Schinazi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This concise text is intended for a one-semester course, and offers a practical introduction to probability for undergraduates at all levels with different backgrounds and views towards applications. Only basiccalculus is required. However, the book is written so that the calculus difficulties of students do not obscure the probability content in the first six chapters. Thus, the exposition initially focuses on fundamental probability concepts and an easy introduction to statistics. Theory is kept to a minimum here, the striking feature being numerous exercises and examples. Chapters 7 and 8 rely heavily on the calculus of one and several variables to study sums of random variables (via moment generating functions), transformations of random variables (using distribution functions) and transformations of random vectors. In Chapter 8 a number of facts are proved with respect to expectation, variance and covariance, and normal samples. In recent years there has been an increasing need for teaching some statistics in an introductory probability course. Many undergraduate programs in biology, computer science, engineering, physics and mathematics have traditionally required such a cour

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now in its second edition, this textbook serves as an introduction to probability and statistics for non-mathematics majors who do not need the exhaustive detail and mathematical depth provided in more comprehensive treatments of the subject. The presentation covers the mathematical laws of random phenomena, including discrete and continuous random variables, expectation and variance, and common probability distributions such as the binomial, Poisson, and normal distributions. More classical examples such as Montmort's problem, the ballot problem, and Bertrand’s paradox are now included, along with applications such as the Maxwell-Boltzmann and Bose-Einstein distributions in physics. Key features in new edition: * 35 new exercises * Expanded section on the algebra of sets * Expanded chapters on probabilities to include more classical examples * New section on regression * Online instructors' manual containing solutions to all exercises“/p> Advanced undergraduate and graduate students in computer science, engineering, and other natural and social sciences with only a basic background in calculus will benefit from this introductory text balancing theory with applications. Review of the first edition: This textbook is a classical and well-written introduction to probability theory and statistics. ... the book is written ‘for an audience such as computer science students, whose mathematical background is not very strong and who do not need the detail and mathematical depth of similar books written for mathematics or statistics majors.’ ... Each new concept is clearly explained and is followed by many detailed examples. ... numerous examples of calculations are given and proofs are well-detailed."
