Book The Fat Resistance Diet

Download or read book The Fat Resistance Diet written by Leo Galland, M.D. and published by Harmony. This book was released on 2006-12-26 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No more counting carbs, calories, or fat grams! This revolutionary diet plan works with your hormones to curb your appetite, boost your metabolism, take weight off—and never put it on again. Cutting-edge scientific research shows that losing weight is not about carbs, calories, or even willpower—it’s about a hormone called leptin and how it functions in your body. Leptin is your body’s natural weight-loss mechanism: it curbs your appetite and jump-starts your metabolism. And when those hormones are working properly, they make you literally fat resistant! You will lose weight effortlessly and efficiently, and never gain those pounds back. A leading expert in the field of nutritional medicine, Dr. Leo Galland knows that if you’ve struggled to lose weight on diet after diet but still can’t shake those excess pounds, chances are you are “leptin resistant”—your body no longer responds to leptin, making it impossible to slim down, no matter what size portions or how few carbs you eat. But here’s the good news: by adding the right foods to your diet, you can quickly reverse leptin resistance and reprogram your body to start melting away the pounds. The Fat Resistance Diet is the first weight-loss plan designed specifically to combat leptin resistance, using a unique combination of anti-inflammatory and hormone-balancing foods to get your hormones working again. Used by hundreds of Dr. Galland’s patients with remarkable results, the three-phase regimen includes: STAGE 1: A fourteen-day starter program that delivers a loss of ten to fourteen pounds in the first two weeks. Inflammation-fighting superfoods work to trigger rapid weight loss and set your hormones straight. STAGE 2: A ninety-day plan that builds on the benefits of Stage 1 and delivers a loss of at least five pounds a month. You can enjoy a greater variety of foods while still keeping your hormones working overtime. STAGE 3: Sustainable for life, the meal plans in this phase keep your hormones doing their job, even after you reach your target weight, and offer an expanded, flavorful menu. With delicious recipes that are rich in healing carbs, healing fats, and powerful phytonutrients, the diet is a breeze to stick with—there are no hard-to-find ingredients, no expensive supplements, and no complicated proportions to figure out. Best of all, when you make the Fat Resistance Diet part of your life, your hormones will do your weight-loss work for you! This groundbreaking program at last reveals the true secret to weight loss success, and will transform you from a chronic dieter into a lean, fat-fighting machine.

Book excerpt: Zen monk and coach Paul Loomans is the creator of Time Surfing, a 7-step approach to help anyone create more time in their life. “This book is for anyone who feels trapped by over-full, over-scheduled days. It explains how to escape the raging storms of busyness and find your way back to a more enjoyable and natural relationship with the clock. Time Surfing is a beautiful idea, expressed brilliantly in this beautiful book.” Tony Crabbe, author of international bestseller Busy: How to Thrive in a World of Too Much Who has time these days? Any moments that haven’t already been accounted for are swallowed up by smartphones, social media and working into the evening hours. Stress can often seem to be caused solely by the outside world, but in fact it also comes from within. This book will inspire and guide you to choose peace as a basis for carrying out all your daily activities, whether at work or in the home. The approach is based on a step-by-step method called Time Surfing, which consists of seven simple and easy-to-learn instructions backed with targeted tips and techniques. Rooted in Zen Buddhism, the emphasis is very much on making the most of the time you have rather than trying to control time itself. The instructions – which include making time for “breathers” throughout the day and finishing a task before starting another – will feel instinctive, and will make it possible for you to surf over the waves of time. You will learn that you can trust your intuition when it comes to choosing what to do, and, as a result, your actions will be not only inspired but also very effective. The focus you experience will be relaxed and unforced. But, more than anything else, an inner sense of calm will arise.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sir Richard Doll, FRS, FRCP ICRF Cancer Research Studies Unit Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, UK The twentieth century has seen few changes more remarkable than the improvement in health that has occurred nearly everywhere, most spectacularly in the economically developed countries. In these countries improved nutrition, better housing, the control ofinfection, smaller family sizes, and higher standards of education have brought about a situation in which more than 97% of all liveborn children can expect to survive the first half ofthe three score years and ten that formerly was regarded as the allotted span oflife. From then on, however, the position is less satisfactory. Some improvement has occurred; but the proportion of survivors who die prematurely, that is under 70 years of age, varies from 25% to over 50% in men and from 13% to 28% in women, the extremes in both sexes being recorded, respectively, in Japan and Hungary. Most of these deaths under 70 years of age must now be called premature, even in Japan. For most of them are not the result of any inevitable aging process, but instead are the consequences of diseases (or types of trauma) that have lower-often much lower-age-specific incidence rates in many of the least developed countries.
