Book Printed Circuit RF Keyed Crossed Field Amplifier

Download or read book Printed Circuit RF Keyed Crossed Field Amplifier written by W. E. Courtney and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes an experimental and theoretical study of an RF-keyed linear format Crossed-Field Amplifier, (CFA), using a printed-circuit slow-wave structure. The theoretical results indicate that higher interaction impedances than have presently been obtained with printed-circuit slow-wave structures will be required to achieve the goal of low RF-keying levels. Experimental results indicate good agreement between theory and experiment for the phase velocity of the slow-wave structure and reasonable agreement between theory and experiment for the CFA.

This book was released on 2010-06-22 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in electronics have pushed mankind to create devices, ranging from - credible gadgets to medical equipment to spacecraft instruments. More than that, modern society is getting used to—if not dependent on—the comfort, solutions, and astonishing amount of information brought by these devices. One ?eld that has continuously bene?tted from those advances is the radio frequency integrated c- cuit (RFIC) design, which in its turn has promoted countless bene?ts to the mankind as a payback. Wireless communications is one prominent example of what the - vances in electronics have enabled and their consequences to our daily life. How could anyone back in the eighties think of the possibilities opened by the wireless local area networks (WLANs) that can be found today in a host of places, such as public libraries, coffee shops, trains, to name just a few? How can a youngster, who lives this true WLAN experience nowadays, imagine a world without it? This book dealswith the design oflinearCMOS RF PowerAmpli?ers(PAs). The RF PA is a very important part of the RF transceiver, the device that enables wireless communications. Two important aspects that are key to keep the advances in RF PA design at an accelerate pace are treated: ef?ciency enhancement and frequen- tunable capability. For this purpose, the design of two different integrated circuits realizedina0. 11μmtechnologyispresented,eachoneaddressingadifferentaspect. With respect to ef?ciency enhancement, the design of a dynamic supply RF power ampli?er is treated, making up the material of Chaps. 2 to 4.

Book EW CROSSED FIELD AMPLIFIER

Download or read book EW CROSSED FIELD AMPLIFIER written by J. Hentschel and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The minimum signal required for efficient operation of an emitting sole crossed-field amplifier is correlated to the ratio of RF electric and dc electric field intensities at the Brillouin hub surface. During the evaluation of these amplifiers with low drive signal, a linear gain region of operation has been observed indicating exponential power growth along the circuit. The complete design procedure developed was applied in an effort to realize a dual mode EW crossed-field amplifier at X-band. A fine grained low velocity circuit with programmed interaction impedance was constructed for this purpose. Multipactor losses on the circuit prevented verification of the design procedure. Book RF Circuits and Applications for Practicing Engineers

Download or read book RF Circuits and Applications for Practicing Engineers written by Mouqun Dong and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2020-10-31 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This comprehensive resource explains the theory of RF circuits and systems and the practice of designing them. The fundamentals for linear and low noise amplifier designs, including the S and noise parameters and their applications in amplifier designs and matching network designs using the Smith chart are covered. Theories of RF power amplifiers and high efficiency power amplifiers are also explained. The underpinnings of wireless communications systems as well as passive components commonly used in RF circuits and measurements are discussed. RF measurement techniques and RF switches are also presented. The book explores stability criteria and the invariant property of lossless networks and includes detailed theoretical treatments. The basic concepts and techniques covered in this book are routinely used in today's engineering practice, especially from the perspective of printed circuit board (PCB) based RF circuit design and system integration. Intended for practicing engineers and circuit designers, this book focuses on practical topics in circuit design and measurement techniques. It bridges the gap between academic materials and real circuit designs using real circuit examples and practical tips. Readers develop a numerical feel for RF problems as well as awareness of the concepts of design for cost and design for manufacturing, which is a critical skill set for today's engineers working in an environment of commercial product development.

Book Study of RF Modulated Crossed Field Amplifiers

Download or read book Study of RF Modulated Crossed Field Amplifiers written by Kenneth W. Dudley and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study of rf modulated crossed field amplifiers (CFA), is being pursued in two areas: the ability of the CFA to be pulse modulated using rf drive power only (rf keying), and the instantaneous bandwidth capability of backward-wave devices. For the rf keying experiments, a special L-band forward-wave test vehicle was designed and built with a multi-section (5) cathode, each section insulated from the others. This design permits application of various bias voltages to different cathode sections to determine the optimum configuration for rf keying conditions. The design also permits measurement of the distribution of the current around the cathode as well as the power dissipated in different sections of the cathode and anode. Details of the tube construction are given in the report. Test results are also described for tests performed with a forward-wave tube having a single cutoff electrode which was biased at various voltage levels to achieve rf keying. Two S-band backward-wave CFA's were constructed for studies of instantaneous bandwidth capability, and a modulator was assembled for test equipment. Tube design characteristics and test data are presented, as is an analysis of the CFA-modulator interface that was examined to determine the characteristics that are influenced by very rapid frequency or rf phase changes. Book RF Modulated S Band Crossed Field Amplifier

Download or read book RF Modulated S Band Crossed Field Amplifier written by L. Lemanski and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The program has the objective to design, develop, construct, and evaluate a high power S-band reentrant stream, crossed-field amplifier utilizing automatic self-modulation by RF drive power. The report covers the design considerations and cold test evaluation of the slow wave anode circuit, anode and cathode cooling techniques, and general construction of the proposed amplifier. Background information is given presenting the principles of operation of a reentrant stream crossed-field amplifier using a dc voltage between the cathode and the anode and a dc biased turn-off electrode to achieve automatic self-modulation by RF drive power. The results of one experiment intended to complete a series of experimental investigations of bias electrode geometries performed on another program are given. No significant additional improvement was obtained, but the experiment did confirm the present understanding of bias electrode operation. (Author).
