Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is comprised of articles and papers that have come about after years of academic and applied research endeavors of the practitioners and academicians in the field of urban and regional development planning. Most of these articles have already been presented and deliberated in national and international conferences held in different parts of the world, namely: Indianapolis, Newcastle upon Tyne, Rome, Istanbul, Cairo, Alexandria, Vienna, Stockholm, Jeddah, Riyadh, Jubail, Islamabad, Penang, and Bandung. The concepts and case studies described in this book bring home the fact that the world is undergoing a gyrational transition. Not only are developed and developing countries getting influenced by each other and transforming due to a process of circular causation, but each of the two sets of countries are also undergoing a simultaneous internal transformation due to the differential infusion of technology and indigenous entrepreneurship. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Muslims living within Western civilisation often desire to rediscover their own way of life and synchronise modern knowledge with the teachings of Islam in a holistic manner. This book, for the first time, looks critically at the ideas of Islamisation of prominent scholars and the institutions with which they have been affiliated. It is argued that the proponents of Islamisation have failed to integrate theory, practice, and spirituality. Some scholars use such terms as ‘de-secularisation’, ‘de-westernisation’, and ‘integration’ to mean ‘Islamisation’, although they differ in terms of the process and methodology of the Islamisation of knowledge (IOK) and contain some logical inconsistencies. Most importantly, the IOK movement has undergone several transformations since its inception in 1977 due to both internal and external factors. This study analyses these factors and changes that followed in terms of structures and strategies, and covers key areas and topics of interest to students, academics, and seasoned professionals working on the Islamisation of knowledge. It also explains the problematic relationship between Islamic and Western knowledge, and gives some pointers on how to bring about a change in the world of knowledge.

Book Islamic Sciences

Download or read book Islamic Sciences written by S. Waqar Ahmed Husaini and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Islamic Sciences: Ethics, Law, Education, Economics, Politics, Sociology, and Systems Planning. This book is an introduction to certain Islamic sciences (ideology): epistemology, education, jurisprudence, ethics and law, politics, economics, philosophy and history of science, and sociology of culture and development. These disciplines are applied in Islamic systems planning , particularly the engineering. The basic sources are the Quran which is used extensively, selected Traditions (Sunnah, Hadith) of Prophet Muhammad, the legacy of Islamic thought from the earliest to modern times, and contemporary rational ( aqaliyyah, or secularized) knowledge of the social and natural sciences and engineering. This is a modern pioneering work on the principles and methodology of Islamization of all knowledge, i.e., the Islamization of the contemporary ideological and technological cultures, through use of the above sources and modern ijtihad (Islamic expert opinion). This illustrates the Quranic principle of integration (tawhid), exemplified by Prophet Muhammad, through use of revelation (wahy) and reason ( aql), and imitation (taqlid) and good innovation (bid ah hasanah).
