This book was released on 2014-08-31 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been continued interest in skew polynomial rings and related constructions since Ore's initial studies in the 1930s. New examples not covered by previous analyses have arisen in the current study of quantum groups. The aim of this work is to introduce and develop new techniques for understanding the prime ideals in skew polynomial rings $S=R[y;\tau, \delta]$, for automorphisms $\tau$ and $\tau$-derivations $\delta$ of a noetherian coefficient ring $R$. Goodearl and Letzter give particular emphasis to the use of recently developed techniques from the theory of noncommutative noetherian rings. When $R$ is an algebra over a field $k$ on which $\tau$ and $\delta$ act trivially, a complete description of the prime ideals of $S$ is given under the additional assumption that $\tau -1 \delta \tau = q\delta$ for some nonzero $q\in k$. This last hypothesis is an abstraction of behavior found in many quantum algebras, including $q$-Weyl algebras and coordinate rings of quantum matrices, and specific examples along these lines are considered in detail.

This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The already broad range of applications of ring theory has been enhanced in the eighties by the increasing interest in algebraic structures of considerable complexity, the so-called class of quantum groups. One of the fundamental properties of quantum groups is that they are modelled by associative coordinate rings possessing a canonical basis, which allows for the use of algorithmic structures based on Groebner bases to study them. This book develops these methods in a self-contained way, concentrating on an in-depth study of the notion of a vast class of non-commutative rings (encompassing most quantum groups), the so-called Poincaré-Birkhoff-Witt rings. We include algorithms which treat essential aspects like ideals and (bi)modules, the calculation of homological dimension and of the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension, the Hilbert-Samuel polynomial, primality tests for prime ideals, etc.
Download or read book Skew PBW Extensions written by William Fajardo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-12-11 with total page 584 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is devoted to a new class of non-commutative rings, skew Poincaré–Birkhoff–Witt (PBW) extensions. Beginning with the basic definitions and ring-module theoretic/homological properties, it goes on to investigate finitely generated projective modules over skew PBW extensions from a matrix point of view. To make this theory constructive, the theory of Gröbner bases of left (right) ideals and modules for bijective skew PBW extensions is developed. For example, syzygies and the Ext and Tor modules over these rings are computed. Finally, applications to some key topics in the noncommutative algebraic geometry of quantum algebras are given, including an investigation of semi-graded Koszul algebras and semi-graded Artin–Schelter regular algebras, and the noncommutative Zariski cancellation problem. The book is addressed to researchers in noncommutative algebra and algebraic geometry as well as to graduate students and advanced undergraduate students.

It particularly concentrates on quantized coordinate rings of algebraic groups and spaces and on quantized enveloping algebras of semisimple Lie algebras. Download or read book Ring Constructions and Applications written by Andrei V. Kelarev and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the definitions of several ring constructions used in various applications. The concept of a groupoid-graded ring includes many of these constructions as special cases and makes it possible to unify the exposition. Recent research results on groupoid-graded rings and more specialized constructions are presented. In addition, there is a chapter containing open problems currently considered in the literature. Ring Constructions and Applications can serve as an excellent introduction for graduate students to many ring constructions as well as to essential basic concepts of group, semigroup and ring theories used in proofs.

Download or read book Density of Prime Divisors of Linear Recurrences written by Christian Ballot and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1995 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A general density theory of the set of prime divisors of a certain family of linear recurring sequences with constant coefficients, a family which is defined for any order recursion, is built up from the work of Lucas, Laxton, Hasse, and Lagarias. In particular, in this theory the notion of the rank of a prime divisor as well as the notion of a Companion Lucas sequence (Lucas), the group associated with a given second-order recursion (Laxton), and the effective computation of densities (Hasse and Lagarias) are first combined and then generalized to any order recursion.
Download or read book Christoffel Functions and Orthogonal Polynomials for Exponential Weights on 1 1 written by A. L. Levin and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1994 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bounds for orthogonal polynomials which hold on the 'whole' interval of orthogonality are crucial to investigating mean convergence of orthogonal expansions, weighted approximation theory, and the structure of weighted spaces. This book focuses on a method of obtaining such bounds for orthogonal polynomials (and their Christoffel functions) associated with weights on [-1,1]. Also presented are uniform estimates of spacing of zeros of orthogonal polynomials and applications to weighted approximation theory.
Download or read book Second Order Sturm Liouville Difference Equations and Orthogonal Polynomials written by Alouf Jirari and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1995 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This memoir presents machinery for analyzing many discrete physical situations, and should be of interest to physicists, engineers, and mathematicians. We develop a theory for regular and singular Sturm-Liouville boundary value problems for difference equations, generalizing many of the known results for differential equations. We discuss the self-adjointness of these problems as well as their abstract spectral resolution in the appropriate [italic capital]L2 setting, and give necessary and sufficient conditions for a second-order difference operator to be self-adjoint and have orthogonal polynomials as eigenfunctions.

Download or read book Noncommutative Algebraic Geometry and Representations of Quantized Algebras written by A. Rosenberg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is based on lectures delivered at Harvard in the Spring of 1991 and at the University of Utah during the academic year 1992-93. Formally, the book assumes only general algebraic knowledge (rings, modules, groups, Lie algebras, functors etc.). It is helpful, however, to know some basics of algebraic geometry and representation theory. Each chapter begins with its own introduction, and most sections even have a short overview. The purpose of what follows is to explain the spirit of the book and how different parts are linked together without entering into details. The point of departure is the notion of the left spectrum of an associative ring, and the first natural steps of general theory of noncommutative affine, quasi-affine, and projective schemes. This material is presented in Chapter I. Further developments originated from the requirements of several important examples I tried to understand, to begin with the first Weyl algebra and the quantum plane. The book reflects these developments as I worked them out in reallife and in my lectures. In Chapter 11, we study the left spectrum and irreducible representations of a whole lot of rings which are of interest for modern mathematical physics. The dasses of rings we consider indude as special cases: quantum plane, algebra of q-differential operators, (quantum) Heisenberg and Weyl algebras, (quantum) enveloping algebra ofthe Lie algebra sl(2) , coordinate algebra of the quantum group SL(2), the twisted SL(2) of Woronowicz, so called dispin algebra and many others.
