Download or read book Basic Psychoanalytic Concepts on the Theory of Instincts written by Humberto Nagera and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-05-30 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1970, this volume describes in condensed but detailed form Freud’s development of the theory of instincts. As is well known, Freud reformulated and amplified his theory of instincts at several points during his lifetime. Such periodical amplifications and reformulations were made necessary by a number of factors, for as Freud gained experience he not only developed fresh insights but also was faced with the problem of explaining an increasing amount of clinical phenomena that offered itself for examination under the psychoanalytic microscope. There can be no doubt that Freud considered his theory of instincts as one of the corner stones of psychoanalysis and yet at the same time he recognised that it was an area where many of his formulations were necessarily of a tentative character and open to discussion and modification. In this volume the reader will be able to follow the development of Freud’s thought from his initial discovery of the duality of ‘sexual’ and ‘ego’ instincts and his recognition of the fundamental importance of the aggressive forces in human nature and behaviour, to the formulation of his theories regarding life and death.
Download or read book Instincts written by Norris Ray Peery and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2003-07-13 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the third in my series of four books dealing with Intelligence, Instincts, and Consciousness. The simple and truthful realization of what we are, and how we got to where we are within nature's world, is the ultimate truth that any philosophy could ever propose to know. It is ultimately the most powerful state that any human mind can ever attain. It is a true kind of nirvana. It is with this knowing state of mind that we can make ever-new beginnings and provide for a future where our chances are best for surviving whatever random hells that nature will with great certainty rise up against us. The fact that we might have to eventually face up to what we are as completely definable creatures in terms of a very complex organization of billions of very simple structures is not in anyway whatsoever a degradation of the truth of our humanity. Understanding what we are has led us to realize both the miraculous and morally good achievements of our kind, and also to an understanding of the basic nature of our more hidden ugly and evil actions.
Download or read book The Unconscious Domain written by Henry Kellerman and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-02-01 with total page 135 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book enumerates the components of the unconscious domain (or realm), and attempts to uncover the proposed communicational network of its operation — a communicational network that is able to link inherent participating components of this realm. It is often the case that theoreticians and clinical practitioners refer to the unconscious or unconscious material in a way that implies the sense of it all rather than a specific definition, broadly describing it as “material which is out of one’s awareness.” This volume therefore examines the complex existence of the entire unconscious realm embraced in an evolutionary historical context, defined here as the 'unconscious domain'.

Download or read book Body Talk written by Jane Ussher and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2002-01-04 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Psychology has traditionally examined human experience from a realist perspective, focusing on observable 'facts'. This is especially so in areas of psychology which focus on the body, such as sexuality, madness or reproduction. In contrast, many sociologists, anthropologists and feminists have focused exclusively on the cultural and communicative aspects of 'the body' treating it purely as an object constructed within socio-cultural discourse. This new collection of sophisticated discursive analyses explores this divide from a variety of theoretical standpoints, including psychoanalysis, social representations theory, feminist theory, critical realism, post-structuralism and social constructionism. Body Talk reconciles the divide by putting forward a new 'materialist-discursive' approach. It also provides an introduction to social constructionist and discursive approaches which is accessible to those with limited previous knowledge of socio-linguistic theory, and showcases the distinctive contribution that psychologists can make to the field.

This book will be used by first and second year undergraduates studying psychology, and will also appeal to students of the history of science and philosophy. In addition, the lucid, non-technical style of this book will provide an excellent introduction to the general reader who would like to know more about this interesting subject.

Download or read book The Divine Pedigree Of Man written by Thomas Jay Hudson and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on 2012 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book treats, as its title would indicate, about the character of the human mind as independent of the body, and so traces "the divine pedigree of man." The author holds that there is a subjective and an objective mind. "Materialistic scientists have succeeded in demonstrating, that the objective mind is a function of the brain, and that it is inherent in the brain.' But it does not necessarily follow that the subjective mind is inherent in any one or more organs of the body; on the contrary, all the facis tend to prove that it exists independently of any specialized organ whatever. The objective mind cannot, of its own volition, move one purely involuntary muscle. On the other hand, the subjective mind can and often does take entire control of the whole body and wields it at its will. This is universal law in the supreme hour.

Download or read book The Big Rubber Ball in Space written by David Paul Martin and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-12-06 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within these passages lies a tale of atonement. Punishment, though not without compassion, is entwined with interplanar wars of apocalyptic proportion by the stoic tutelage of Halo, the Paladin Lord. Trespassers of his tenets try to salvage their dignity, yet groomed in discipline and tact are those that have caused offense. Through a training course which tests the very fabric of the soul, the lines of alter-realities, and the paradox of time travel intermingle. Planar defenders attempt to sew the rifts between tradition and innovation. Intimate knowledge of trespasses and morality of the spirit realm lie as a foundation for the physicality. The deviations of reality are played out in a hallucination that questions science, sorcery, and sexuality.
