Book High Pressure Chemistry of Substituted Acetylenes

Download or read book High Pressure Chemistry of Substituted Acetylenes written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High pressure in situ synchrotron x-ray diffraction experiments were performed on substituted polyacetylenes: tert-butyl acetylene [TBA: (CH3)3-C{triple_bond}CH] and ethynyl trimethylsilane [ETMS: (CH3)3-Si{triple_bond}CH] to investigate pressure-induced chemical reactions. The starting samples were the low temperature crystalline phases which persisted metastably at room temperature and polymerized beyond 11 GPa and 26 GPa for TBA and ETMS respectively. These reaction onset pressures are considerably higher than what we observed in the shockwave studies (6.1 GPa for TBA and 6.6 GPa for ETMS). Interestingly, in the case of ETMS, it was observed with fluid ETMS as starting sample, reacts to form a semi-crystalline polymer (crystalline domains corresponding to the low-T phase) at pressures less than ≈2 GPa. Further characterization using vibrational spectroscopy is in progress.

Book Materials Under Extreme Conditions Molecular Crystals At High Pressure

Download or read book Materials Under Extreme Conditions Molecular Crystals At High Pressure written by Vincenzo Schettino and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013-11-20 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High-pressure materials research has been revolutionized in the past few years due to technological breakthroughs in the diamond anvil cell (DAC), shock wave compression and molecular dynamic simulation (MD) methods. The application of high pressure, especially together with high temperature, has revealed exciting modifications of physical and chemical properties even in the simplest molecular materials.Besides the fundamental importance of these studies to understand the composition and the dynamics of heart and planets' interior, new materials possessing peculiar characteristics of hardness and composition have been synthesized at very high pressure, while unexpected chemical reactions of simple molecules to polymers and amorphous compounds have been found at milder conditions. The variety of the phenomena observed in these extreme conditions and of the materials involved provides a common ground bridging scientific communities with different cultural and experimental backgrounds. This monograph will provide a timely opportunity to report on recent progress in the field.

Book Modern Charge Density Analysis

Download or read book Modern Charge Density Analysis written by Carlo Gatti and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-01-09 with total page 800 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern Charge-Density Analysis focuses on state-of-the-art methods and applications of electron-density analysis. It is a field traditionally associated with understanding chemical bonding and the electrostatic properties of matter. Recently, it has also been related to predictions of properties and responses of materials (having an organic, inorganic or hybrid nature as in modern materials and bio-science, and used for functional devices or biomaterials). Modern Charge-Density Analysis is inherently multidisciplinary and written for chemists, physicists, crystallographers, material scientists, and biochemists alike. It serves as a useful tool for scientists already working in the field by providing them with a unified view of the multifaceted charge-density world. Additionally, this volume facilitates the understanding of scientists and PhD students planning to enter the field by acquainting them with the most significant and promising developments in this arena.

This book was released on 2018-12-17 with total page 604 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 41 of Reviews in Mineralogy and Geochemistry introduces to the field of high-temperature and high-pressure crystal chemistry, both as a guide to the dramatically improved techniques and as a summary of the voluminous crystal chemical literature on minerals at high temperature and pressure. The three parts of the book introduces crystal chemical considerations of special relevance to non-ambient crystallographic studies, reviews the temperature- and pressure-variation of structures in major mineral groups and presents experimental techniques for high-temperature and high-pressure studies of single crystals and polycrystalline samples as well as special considerations relating to diffractometry on samples at non-ambient conditions.

Book Olefin Metathesis and Metathesis Polymerization

Download or read book Olefin Metathesis and Metathesis Polymerization written by K. J. Ivin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1997-01-07 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a follow-up to Ivins Olefin Metathesis, (Academic Press, 1983). Bringing the standard text in the field up to date, this Second Edition is a result of rapid growth in the field, sparked by the discovery of numerous well-defined metal carbene complexes that can act as very efficient initiators of all types of olefin metathesis reaction, including ring-closing metathesis of acyclic dienes, enynes, and dienynes; ring-opening metathesis polymerizationof cycloalkenes, acyclic diene metathesis polymerization; and polymerization of alkynes, as well as simple olefin metathesis. Olefin Metathesis and Metathesis Polymerization provides a broad, up-to-date account of the subject from its beginnings in 1957 to the latest applications in organic synthesis. The book follows the same format as the original, making it useful toteachers and to researchers, and will be of particular interest to those working in the fields of organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, organometallic chemistry, catalysis, materials science and chemical engineering. Discusses different classes of olefin metathesis and the choice of reaction conditions and catalyst Considers commercial processes with examples from existing and new technologies Provides a complete overview of the subject from its beginning to the present day
