Book Pressure Enthalpy Without Tears

Download or read book Pressure Enthalpy Without Tears written by Eugene Silberstein and published by ESCO Press. This book was released on 2013-08-01 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enthalpy? A fancy word for heat! Over the years, much has been written on the subject of pressure enthalpy and most of it is geared toward engineers. This program presents the important concepts of pressure enthalpy in a manner that will appeal to the service technician. Each refrigerant has its own properties and these properties are compiled on the pressure enthalpy chart for that particular refrigerant. The pressure enthalpy chart enables us to create a complete picture, or "snapshot" of the entire system. With a completed pressure enthalpy plot, we can evaluate the major system components as well as calculate latent and sensible heat transfers.

Book Psychrometrics Without Tears

Download or read book Psychrometrics Without Tears written by Eugene Silberstein and published by ESCO Press. This book was released on 2014-03-01 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All You Ever Wanted to Know About Air… And Then Some! A/C technicians should be knowledgeable about air and its properties. This program helps technicians understand the basic properties of air and how these properties relate to each other. Over the years, much has been written on the subject of Psychrometrics. However, much of this material has been geared toward engineering and system design. Psychrometrics Without Tears presents the important concepts of air in a manner that will appeal to HVAC students and service technicians. Knowing all there is to know about an air sample is pretty empowering, so this book starts by discussing the basic properties of air and how these properties relate to each other. The Psychrometric chart is introduced to provide a visual representation of how air behaves when exposed to different conditions. Once the basics of the chart are covered, we then move into some more interesting topics such as sensible heat ratio, bypass factor, and apparatus dew point temperatures. These properties help determine system performance and are very important concepts to learn in order to fully understand air. The plotting of actual systems follows next. This involves plotting out air distribution systems that are operating correctly so that we can see what properly operating systems look like on the chart. This book covers a wide range of systems that includes residential heating and cooling systems as well as commercial systems that provide ventilation air to the occupied space to meet building code requirements. Prepare to learn about mixed air systems and learn to calculate the mixed air conditions provided we know what the outside air and return air conditions are. In addition to everything mentioned already, we will discuss the concepts of ventilation, economizing and air balancing.

Download or read book Slow Viscous Flow written by William E. Langlois and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-04-15 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leonardo wrote, “Mechanics is the paradise of the mathematical sciences, because by means of it one comes to the fruits of mathematics”; replace “Mechanics” by “Fluid mechanics” and here we are. - From the Preface to the Second Edition Although the exponential growth of computer power has advanced the importance of simulations and visualization tools for elaborating new models, designs and technologies, the discipline of fluid mechanics is still large, and turbulence in flows remains a challenging problem in classical physics. Like its predecessor, the revised and expanded Second Edition of this book addresses the basic principles of fluid mechanics and solves fluid flow problems where viscous effects are the dominant physical phenomena. Much progress has occurred in the half a century that has passed since the edition of 1964. As predicted, aspects of hydrodynamics once considered offbeat have risen to importance. For example, the authors have worked on problems where variations in viscosity and surface tension cannot be ignored. The advent of nanotechnology has broadened interest in the hydrodynamics of thin films, and hydromagnetic effects and radiative heat transfer are routinely encountered in materials processing. This monograph develops the basic equations, in the three most important coordinate systems, in a way that makes it easy to incorporate these phenomena into the theory. The book originally described by Prof. Langlois as "a monograph on theoretical hydrodynamics, written in the language of applied mathematics" offers much new coverage including the second principle of thermodynamics, the Boussinesq approximation, time dependent flows, Marangoni convection, Kovasznay flow, plane periodic solutions, Hele-Shaw cells, Stokeslets, rotlets, finite element methods, Wannier flow, corner eddies, and analysis of the Stokes operator.

Book Heat Pumps

Download or read book Heat Pumps written by Eugene Silberstein and published by Cengage Learning. This book was released on 2003 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive, yet reader-friendly source of information about modern heat pump technology, as well as the vapor-compression refrigeration system on which it is based, Heat Pumps is the perfect choice for future service technicians. The book begins by introducing the four major components that make up the vapor-compression system: compressor, condenser, metering device, and evaporator. Other system-level components essential to efficient heat pump operation are also addressed, including: cooling towers, pressure controls, safety devices, and thermostats. Subsequent chapters enable readers equipped with a basic understanding of how heat pumps operate to launch directly into detailed examination of the electrical circuits of the vapor-compression refrigeration system as well as the operation of individual system components. In addition to gaining exposure to different heat pump system configurations (including the increasingly popular geothermal system), dedicated troubleshooting chapters provide abundant opportunities to gain practice in applying the seven steps required for successful completion of every service call. Ample pedagogy plus real-life and simplified examples appear throughout the book, maximizing learning and minimizing the frustration often associated with the study of such a highly-technical, complex topic.

Book excerpt: HVAC Training 101 is a site visited by over 100,000 enthusiasts monthly, who are interested in becoming HVAC technicians. The site initially began as the passion project of a retired HVAC technician. The site quickly gained popularity, building a strong community of aspiring HVAC technicians. Currently, it is managed by a team of ex-HVAC technicians with decades of experience in the industry. Head over to HVACTraining101.Com to learn more. We began by writing about how to become certified as an HVAC technician. With rules and certifications varying for each state, it was a challenging task. We had a few friends in other states help us out, but for some states, we had to dig really deep to find the information needed. Our audience at the time was very happy with the information we provided. At this point, we started getting many questions about EPA 608 certification. Once you get the education and experience needed to become a technician, prospective employers will ask for certification to handle refrigerants. When we started writing about how to become certified, viewers again requested we write a study guide to help them prepare for the 608 exams. The study guides out there were dense and had much more information than was needed to pass the test. This inspired us to embark on a journey to write the simplest study guide for the EPA 608 exam, which would still cover all the necessary information. We hope we have achieved our intended objective. The journey to becoming an HVAC technician can be long and arduous. We congratulate you on taking this path and wish you the best in cracking the EPA 608 exam.
