Book Pressed Flowers Garden of Poems

Download or read book Pressed Flowers Garden of Poems written by and published by . This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the result of my life-long obsession with any media that enables me to create. I am a media Donna Juana. I love and am seduced by all mediums. These pressed flower paintings were originally made as cards to mail. I used the pressed dried flowers like a brush, gluing them with a dcoupage medium onto Strathmore canvas cards that have matching envelopes. After the flowers were glued in place I painted in background with water color. The next medium I used here was to touch up the picture with colored pencils and pens. I let the flowers dictate the process - playing. In some of the cards I added another medium with an origami butterfly. When I had a stack of 40 cards I decided to make a book to further preserve my work since once the card is mailed I no longer have it.For the next process of preservation I scanned the cards and then opened the images in Photoshop. Except for a few minor color corrections the pressed flower images are preserved. The original cards are signed and numbered. The digital flower paintings where then placed in the program Adobe InDesign to process for publication into this book. The book needed some words to "Illustrate" my images. That was a new pleasurable process that began with picking flowers. The poems included in book begin with the mystic poet, Kabir, born in India around 1440. The last poem is by Aldous Huxley who died in 1963. All these poems are now in the public domain. So, like the preserved flowers they too can have a new incarnation. Their poems have reference to flowers or Gardens and like all poetry they are about much more.

Download or read book Walk Through a Field of Flowers written by K.A. Bloch and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2020-11-12 with total page 75 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is tough and full of hard times and heartache, but it’s also beautiful and plush and vibrant. Walk Through a Field of Flowers is a collection of poems gathered over a lifetime starting as a young child. Some are autobiographical, others are written as an observer of life and other people’s struggles or situations. The Author has added her own thoughts about each poem and explained the meaning and origin; sometimes funny, sometimes serious, and occasionally with a little humility. Throughout the book, the Author often compares the perspective of an innocent young girl versus the somewhat jaded, sometimes cynical perspective of an adult.

Book excerpt: "We pick flowers, knowing they will die. We press flowers, hoping they will survive." Reading a poem is not so different to picking a flower. Like flowers, there are some poems we want to press between the pages of a book. This book contains eighty six of my most popular poems from my first three books: Death and Life (2014), Passage (2015), and Love Is A Song She Sang From A Cage (2016).

Book excerpt: Two major trends have recently swept the travel world: the first, an overwhelming desire (thanks to Elizabeth Gilbert’s bestseller, Eat, Pray, Love) to write one’s own memoir; the second, an explosion of social media, blogs, twitter and texts, which allow travelers to document and share their experiences instantaneously. Thus, the act of chronicling one’s journey has never been more popular, nor the urge stronger. Writing Away: A Creative Guide to Awakening the Journal-Writing Traveler, will inspire budding memoirists and jetsetting scribes alike. But Writing Away doesn’t stop there—author Lavinia Spalding spins the romantic tradition of keeping a travelogue into a modern, witty adventure in awareness, introducing the traditional handwritten journal as a profoundly valuable tool for self-discovery, artistic expression, and spiritual growth. Writing Away teaches you to embrace mishaps in order to enrich your travel experience, recognize in advance what you want to remember, tap into all your senses, and connect with the physical world in an increasingly technological age. It helps you overcome writer’s block and procrastination; tackle the discipline, routine, structure, and momentum that are crucial to the creative process; and it demonstrates how traveling—while keeping a journal along the way—is the world’s most valuable writing exercise.
