But the excuse is ventured that a rèsume of a period of study may be welcome to those who have little leisure, and are unable for one reason and another to procure the large, costly, and often out-of-print works which form the bibliography; the great importance too of the subject for the understanding of the New Testament may warrant a multiplication of volumes upon it.
