Download or read book Unraptured written by Zack Hunt and published by MennoMedia, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-03-19 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you rapture ready? As a teenager in the buckle of the Bible Belt, Zack Hunt was convinced the rapture would happen at any moment. Being ready meant never missing church, never sinning, and always listening to Christian radio. But when the rapture didn’t happen, Hunt’s tightly wound faith began to fray. If he had been wrong about the rapture, what else about his faith might not hold water? Part memoir, part tour of the apocalypse, and part call to action, Unraptured traces how the church’s focus on escaping to heaven has it mired in decay. Teetering on the brink of irrelevancy in a world rocked by refugee crises, climate change, war and rumors of war, the church cannot afford to focus on the end times instead of following Jesus in the here and now. Unraptured uses these signs of the times to help readers reorient their understanding of the gospel around loving and caring for the least of these.

Download or read book EVANGELISM DISCIPLESHIP written by Benjamin Cocar and published by Christian Publishing House. This book was released on 2014-12-27 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the apostle Paul had done some tent making in Corinth with Aquila and Priscilla, Luke tells us at Acts 18:5, "when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, solemnly testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ." We note "Paul began devoting himself completely." Why more so than before? Verses 9 and 10 go on to say, "the Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision: 'Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent; for I am with you, and no man will attack you in order to harm you, for I have many people in this city.'" We too have similar reasons for devoting ourselves 'more completely to the Word of God.' Yes, unquestionably, God has "many people" in all the cities throughout the world, including our community. These ones need to be discovered and 'taught everything Jesus commanded.' The wait for Jesus' second coming will not last forever, so we need to be awakened to our responsibility of proclaiming biblical truths, teaching, and making disciples of those who have a receptive heart.

Download or read book How To Conduct Discipleship Training written by Rufus McDowell, D. Min. and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-03-09 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Leadership Training In Discipleship: For Christians With Prior Drug and Alcohol Dependence This book is resultant of my Doctor of Ministry Research Project providing a means for leaders and teachers to learn dynamics to disciple Christians that had prior drug or alcohol dependence. Before implementation of this dissertation, I discovered that there was not a definitive manual to train individuals to facilitate or conduct discipleship programming exclusive and conducive to this group. This book is not only meant to be academic; the intent is to offer concise information and instruction to aid ministers, pastors, church laity, and others delivering drug and alcohol rehabilitative pastoral care. Further, usage will aid participants in traditional church, institution, chaplaincy, prison, workplace, and other faith-based settings. Fundamentally, this book insinuates spiritual, social, and emotional suggestions for anyone desiring development in both personal and spiritual formation. In addition, this book will equip you with biblical principles and modalities to teach holistically. These standpoints entail examination of a biblical philosophy of discipleship centered on the Great Commission and Great Commandment in developing a comprehensive strategy involving a theological and practical study and teaching approach. Throughout this study, a small group format is emphasized for training and evaluation giving particular attention to Christ's model of discipleship with regards to facilitating and coaching. This book will aid in revealing that the culture of the church consists of a unique group of Christians, some whom have abused drugs or alcohol, served time in prison, and misunderstood in church ministries.

Book excerpt: The new church at Thessalonica is under fierce attack. Opposing Jewish leaders have caused a riot and driven the church-planting team out of town. But amazingly, against all odds, the new congregation begins to grow and attract converts from the pagan population of the city. What's more, it becomes a model congregation among the fledging Christian movement in the Mediterranean region. 1 and 2 Thessalonians, written about 50 AD, are the earliest documents in the New Testament. They reveal the Apostle Paul's heart and passion as he seeks to guide this congregation towards health and balance. In 1 and 2 Thessalonians you'll learn important truths about Christ's coming -- specifically regarding the rapture and the Antichrist. Paul explains how to deal with overly-dependent members, God's grace in selecting his children, the heart and character of a disciple-maker, a high view of sexual purity, and keys to a healthy Christian congregation. This volume covers the two letters in nine lessons. Classes and small groups will find this a helpful curriculum guide to their study 1 and 2 Thessalonians with links to free participant handouts, as well as thorough preparation for the leader. Thought-provoking questions will stimulate many insightful discussions. These heavily-footnoted lessons provide most of the research that preachers and teachers will need. At the same time, these lessons will inspire and challenge the individual reader to grow as a disciple.

And am I really striving to be the disciple Jesus wants in His followers? The purpose of this book is to address certain key issues that a Christian should be fully acquainted with if he or she is to be an obedient disciple and observe what Jesus commanded.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not a Fan has already called more than one million readers to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple--moving from fan to follower in their relationship with Jesus. After years of serving God, pastor and bestselling author Kyle Idleman had a startling revelation: for too long, he had been living as a fan of Jesus; someone who tried to make Christianity seem as appealing, comfortable, and convenient as he possibly could to others. Idleman decided something had to change--he needed to embark on the journey of becoming a completely committed follower of God, not just a fan. Fans want to be close enough to Jesus to get all the benefits, but not so close that it requires sacrifice, while followers are all in and completely committed to Christ. Not a Fan gives you the tools you need to determine exactly where you stand when it comes to your relationship with Jesus. No matter where you are in your walk with Christ, Not a Fan calls you to consider the demands and rewards of being a true disciple. With frankness and a touch of humor, Idleman invites you to: Examine your relationship with God Determine if you're following Jesus or just following the rules Pray the way Jesus prayed Start truly living for the one who gave his all for you This expanded and updated version of Not a Fan also includes a new introduction and an entirely new chapter about how to practically live out the book's core message. Join Idleman as he challenges you to take an honest look at your relationship with Jesus and discover what it really means to be a follower.
