Book excerpt: On the basis of final action of the 2007 Session of the Legislature, the Kansas Legislative Research Department estimated that the June 30, 2007, State General Fund unencumbered cash balance would be $822.0 million. This amount was based on the April 2007 consensus revenue estimates, as adjusted for legislation, and on expenditures approved by the 2007 Legislature. As shown in Table I, the actual ending balance was $935.0 million, or approximately $112.9 million above the estimate. However, it should be noted that the FY 2007 data as contained in this report are subject to minor revisions by the Division of Accounts and Reports. Actual receipts were $5.809 billion, $87.8 million or 1.5 percent, above the estimated amount.
