Book Preferred circuit Techniques for Tunnel diode Amplifiers

Download or read book Preferred circuit Techniques for Tunnel diode Amplifiers written by Arthur Leber and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes an investigation of radio frequency interence (RFI) in tunnel-diode amplifiers. Equations are derived which predict the harmonic and intermodulation power levels, or rejection of harmonics and intermodulation, and the percent cross-modulation as a function of tunnel-diode and circuit parameters. The parameters that must be known to make use of the equations are the diode peak voltage and current, bias voltage, source impedance, and amplifier gain. A push-pull, tunnel-diode amplifier was developed to demonstrate the feasibility and the advantages of a balanced amplifier. Measurements were made of the significant intermodulation and cross-modulation interference effects and then compared with the predicted effects. The results agreed with the theoretical predictions. Book Thin film Wideband Tunnel diode Amplifier

Download or read book Thin film Wideband Tunnel diode Amplifier written by Edmund Jui-ching Hsieh and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wideband tunnel-diode amplifiers using common-base transistor stages for isolation were investigated for stability criteria, frequency response, and the effects of temperature and voltage supply fluctuations. For the first time the full frequency spectrum of a tunnel-diode, from d-c to the gigahertz (GHz) range, was able to be utilized in an amplifier. Three experimental circuits constructed by conventional as well as thin-film techniques were tested. They represented a workable model of a new design of a tunnel-diode amplifier capable of having constant gain over a frequency spectrum from d-c to one-half GHz. It was shown that this design principle could be applied to extend the upper frequency limit to a few GHz if higher frequency tunnel-diodes and better circuit construction techniques are employed.

Book Preferred circuit Techniques for Receiver Applications

Download or read book Preferred circuit Techniques for Receiver Applications written by G. Kanischak and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 524 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theoretical and experimental investigation of circuit techniques was conducted to provide circuits with minimum interference susceptibility for receiver application. The circuits considered are solid-state circuits for predetection functions in receivers, operating in the frequency range from 1 MHz to 10 GHz, and include bipolar transistor amplifiers, field-effect transistor amplifiers, parametric amplifiers, tunnel-diode amplifiers, crystal-diode mixers, and varactor-tuned filters. Investigations were also conducted to determine the nonlinearities and RFI characteristics of microelectronic receiver circuits and the Hall-effect mixer. Measured and predicted results of intermodulation, harmonic distortion, and cross-modulation are shown graphically for the circuits investigated. Techniques to minimize interference susceptibility and performance tradeoffs are discussed and are illustrated by developed circuits and measured data. (Author).

Book The Waveguide Tunnel Diode Amplifier Design Considerations

Download or read book The Waveguide Tunnel Diode Amplifier Design Considerations written by J. J Ayoub (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytic design procedure for waveguide tunnel diode amplifiers based on the use of commercially available packaged tunnel diodes and the manufacturer furnished specifications for these devices is outlined. This approach is found to be inadequate for the realization of an amplifier that must meet specified performance criteria. However, the waveguide structure resulting from this design procedure should be suitable for performing microwave frequency measurements that will allow a more complete characterization of the waveguide tunnel diode network and therefore a more exact design procedure. The extreme fragility of high resistive cutoff frequency tunnel diodes requires that extreme care be used in the mounting and biasing of these devices. Pressure- and shock-absorbing devices should be used in the mounting structure to avoid destruction of the tunnel diode. It is concluded that the realization of tunnel diode amplifiers for frequencies above 26 GHz will necessitate new packaging techniques and possibly even new fabrication techniques for the tunnel diode itself. Book The Design of Broad band Tunnel Diode Amplifiers

Download or read book The Design of Broad band Tunnel Diode Amplifiers written by Jack Lepoff and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytic method for designing broad-band tunnel diode amplifiers is presented. A stabilizing circuit is added to a basic double-tuned circuit in order to prevent out-of-band oscillations. Amplifiers were designed for 1-Gc and 2-Gc bandwidths at C band. Models were built with greater than 10-db gain and less than 5-db noise figure over a 1-Gc band. (Author).
