Book excerpt: Look around us; it's an epidemic in and out of the church. The world itself has lost its way, degradation in the workplace, in our school nowhere seems safe. There was a time you can find safety in the church, but now even there, you have to be genuinely connected and watchful. There seems to be only one place for those that are power-hungry can seem to rise to power quite quickly in today's sub-culture of the church. No one is even testing the fruit to see what real source they are. Certain things should not even be named amongst us. Crimes are being committed with our eyes wide shut. The people of God must sound the alarm, blow the trumpet, wake out of sleep, and stop pretending these things are not happening, becoming partakers of the problem and not the solution. (1 Thessalonians 5:5-6) This book is a clarion call for righteousness and holy living in leadership and all the body, keeping the body of Christ from declining any further by taking away the true testimony of Jesus Christ and those who will walk worthy of the vocation wherewith they are called. Odessa Moton is the Co-pastor of the Oasis of Hope PCOG in the great city of Milwaukee, WI. She holds a bachelor's degree in Religious Arts and a doctorate in Ministerial Studies. Still, she will say her best training was the school of the Holy Spirit and the school of hard knocks. Dr. Moton is the chairwoman of the women's division of the Anointed Word Assemblies, founder of the Women of the Prophetic Word Conference in 1997, and the School of Prophets in 2014. She has been married to Bishop E.L Moton for overthirty-four years. They have five children and fifteen grandchildren

Book excerpt: Predator in the Pulpit is unique in that it is both a message to survivors of Clergy Sexual Misconduct and a how-to on prevention. After all, where do you go when church hurts? It's a hard question to answer since church is usually considered the place you go when you are hurting. Predator in the Pulpit is about healing from clergy sexual misconduct and spiritual abuse that happens way too often in churches of all sizes and denominators. In these pages are the shards left behind from CSM and how to pick up the pieces and heal. This is not about one person's journey, although a journey is shared. It's about helping the church protect its members, see the warning signs, and provide the proper support for all involved. This book is for you if you are on the journey of healing, know someone who is, or maybe you are just ready to take a stand for righteousness.

He claimed he was 'instructing' her, preparing her to be a bad girl who could impress all the guys. But what she actually got from these 'sessions' was guilt and shame that ate away at her. She was afraid to tell and afraid to refuse him, because he was her pastor, after all, a highly respected man in the community. She eventually told, but the abuse didn't stop there. Within a year, he was welcomed back into her family's lives, and the cycle began again. He even married her mother later in life. All this resulted in huge amounts of physical and emotional pain—until Kelsey told again and learned to love herself and let go of the past. Now Kelsey has a healthy life, and she wants you to know that you can too. In this gut-wrenching yet inspiring work, victims will find themselves and discover the importance of telling their horrific secret. Prey for the Predator in the Pulpit will expose readers to raw truths and healing faith. Uncover the secrets now.

Book excerpt: Pastor John MacArthur combines his passion for the Bible with the training expertise of faculty members at The Master's Seminary to guide seminary students and ministry leaders in developing their pastoral ministry skills. Pastors today can easily become preoccupied with the many pitfalls of modern culture, buying into the idea of image and straying from Jesus's call to shepherd leadership. Pastoral Ministry: How to Shepherd Biblically presents a practical pastoral theology aimed at showing pastors and pastors-in-training the vital role God's word plays in shaping the preparation and maintaining the priorities of pastoring. The authors examine the biblical teaching about the high and demanding call to ministry required of any spiritual shepherd. You'll learn how to pursue intentional growth through the stages of calling, training, and ministering to God's church—along the way, uncovering answers to questions such as: How does the Bible establish a philosophy of pastoral ministry, and what is it? Who is personally qualified to be an undershepherd of God's flock? What are the biblical preparations required of shepherd leaders? What priority does God's word place on activities involved in pastoral ministry? United in affirming shepherd leadership as the biblical model for pastoral ministry, The Master's Seminary faculty contributes a treasury of expertise alongside insights from well-known Bible teacher John MacArthur. This book will inspire any pastor dedicated to serving God's church in the pattern of Jesus Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scandal, corruption, and deceit are all taking place within the house of God. Much to our dismay, the church is undeniably guilty of falling away from its original purpose. We need the breath of God to breathe life back into the body of the church. In order to help revive it, we need pastors who have the heart of God, who will not flinch when the world tries to impose itself on the church, and who will do church the way God intended and not bow to the ideology, concepts, or influence of the world. Power or Performance highlights many controversial subjects that the church has chosen to ignore or disregard. The church has a central figure in the person of Jesus Christ, a governing authority in the deity of God, and a book of canonized scripture called the Bible. The church cannot take it upon herself to make up the rules as she goes. Author Cedric R. Spearmon explores topics that expose the unethical behavior, corruption, deceit, and egregious acts perpetrated by those who call themselves Christians. He then exhorts the church to take a hard look in the mirror, examine, and return to the form God ordered and intended. Offering a call to action, this study calls attention to problems within the Christian church and exhorts the body of Christ to awaken to its sense of spiritual responsibility.

Book Let Us Prey Revised Edition

Download or read book Let Us Prey Revised Edition written by Darrell Puls and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-06-10 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus warned of wolves carefully disguised as shepherds coming into local churches as pastors. It is the perfect disguise for a predator to access and devour the flock one lamb at a time while proclaiming himself as their protector and guardian. The result is spiritual devastation, broken congregations, and even destroyed churches. Darrell Puls attests from experience that the enemy has infiltrated the North American church through pastors with dangerously high levels of narcissism. These pastors hide under layers of the sacred, but it is always an illusion of smoke and mirrors. Puls has experienced this reality from the inside as a staff pastor under a narcissist, and from the outside as a church consultant. He carefully unpacks toxic narcissism in everyday terms, and lets the victims tell their own stories. Let Us Prey, Revised Edition is as real as it gets.
