Book excerpt: La vulgarisation de l'implantologie au cours des dernières années a entraîné une augmentation du nombre de prothèses ostéo-intégrées mais également le développement de complications biologiques péri-implantaires. A l'instar des maladies parodontales, les maladies péri-implantaires sont divisées en deux groupes : les mucosites et les péri-implantites. Dans un premier temps, il sera nécessaire de comprendre les différences histologiques entre les tissus péri-implantaires et parodontaux, les principaux facteurs de risque et la nécessité de mettre en place une thérapeutique de soutien adaptée. Ensuite seront mises en évidence les méthodes diagnostiques des maladies péri-implantaires, ainsi que les différents traitements non-chirurgicaux et chirurgicaux proposés à l'heure actuelle présentés au travers de leurs résultats obtenus lors d'études scientifiques. De nombreux éléments demeurent encore inconnus, et de nouvelles études seront nécessaires dans le but de proposer des traitements optimaux aux patients.
