This book was released on 2008-02-07 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Gesti n de la diversidad en entornos educativos written by MARINA LAURA TOMASOTTI and published by Almaluz Editorial. This book was released on 2024-04-20 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Convergencia educativa y diversidad cultural en el EEES written by and published by Ediciones Universidad de Salamanca. This book was released on 2012-05-01 with total page 653 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hereby we present the results of our Doctorate research, in the frame of European university convergence towards the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), whose implementation means unifying educational criteria, approaches, methodologies, programmes, credit systems and degrees in the 47 participant countries, giving at the same time a positive appreciation to the cultural diversity involved and to its adequate treatment as essential factors for quality. An educational system at the same time reflects and helps to conserve and transmit the culture of a particular country. In all cases, members of a cultural and academic community share a number of fundamental values that people from other cultures have to discover, recognize, identify, get to know, understand, accept, learn, assume and develop in order to feel fully integrated and be able to interact on equal terms/conditions and therefore achieve the results and success desired. What does it mean to be a good Higher Education professor in increasingly international, multilingual and multicultural learning environments? What perceptions do international students have on this profile, considering that they come from different learning traditions and previous educational experiences, and have got diverse socio-cultural backgrounds and characteristics? What quality expectations in this respect do they bring with them to the multicultural classroom? How can professors meet these expectations and thereby improve their teaching? From a systemic perspective on education, in terms of education quality and effectiveness our research considers, inter alia, a number of different variables such as input: professor, students with diverse cultural origins/profiles, traditions/previous experiences of university education; context: multicultural learning environments in Higher Education, climate and culture of the classroom; process: teaching and learning techniques/strategies, teaching and learning styles, intercultural approach; product: Intercultural Competence. As it can be seen in detail in the analysis of the results obtained in our research, statistically significant differences directly reflect cultural factors described in the various respondent student profiles, as well as in their different traditional university models. It has been therefore proved/verified that the culture of the classroom or the academic culture (teaching and learning culture) is a true reflection of the culture or the cultural profile of those societies in which the university sits as an integral part/member.

Download or read book Atenci n a la diversidad cultural en el contexto educativo written by Inmaculada González Falcón and published by Ediciones Pirámide. This book was released on 2021-04-15 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Teacher Education for High Poverty Schools

Download or read book Teacher Education for High Poverty Schools written by Jo Lampert and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-10-15 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume captures the innovative, theory-based, and grounded work being done by established scholars who are interrogating how teacher education can prepare teachers to work in challenging and diverse high-poverty settings. It offers articles from the US, Australia, Canada, the UK and Chile by some of the most significant scholars in the field. Internationally, research suggests that effective teachers for high poverty schools require deep theoretical understanding as well as the capacity to function across three well-substantiated areas: deep content knowledge, well-tuned pedagogical skills, and demonstrated attributes that prove their understanding and commitment to social justice. Schools in low socioeconomic communities need quality teachers most, however, they are often staffed by the least experienced and least prepared teachers. The chapters in this volume examine how pre-service teachers are taught to understand the social contexts of education. Drawing on the individual expertise of the authors, the topics covered include unpacking poverty for pre-service teachers, issues related to urban schooling as well as remote and regional area schooling.

Download or read book Education and Poverty written by Alfredo Gaete and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2019-05-14 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What are the effects of recent public policies for reducing educational inequalities? How do privatization and other market-based education measures influence schooling in poverty contexts and teacher training programs? In what ways, and to what extent, can these programs take responsibility for improving low-income students’ learning? How do ethnic and cultural differences relate to socioeconomic differences at school? This collection of essays serves to improve the reader’s understanding of the complex relations between education and poverty. While it does this mainly by delving into problems and challenges of the Chilean educational system, they are also currently of international concern. The chapters, authored by leading scholars in Chile and worldwide, present theoretical reflections on, and reports of, contemporary educational research on such issues as social equality, schooling in low socioeconomic sectors, and teacher education, among others. The book will be particularly helpful for scholars from different disciplines who work in education as well as for teacher educators, schoolteachers, and policy makers. More generally, it will be also of interest to anyone who wants to form justified, well-informed beliefs on the ways in which various educational and socioeconomic institutions and processes could, and do, affect each other.
