Book Protein Biotechnology

Download or read book Protein Biotechnology written by Ashok Kumar and published by Discovery Publishing House. This book was released on 2006 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present title Protein Biotechnology tries to capture the field of biotechnology in its whole some entirety in a manner that is concise and easily understood by the students. Enzymatic proteins play a vital role in degradation and fermentation providing a well known example but more recent developments of an over increasing range of raw materials have led to a wider and greater impact on the biotechnology industry. Because it is undergoing such rapid growth, there will almost certainly be many examples of protein biotechnology in actual application when this book appears which had not reached that stage when it was written. For this reason we have allowed ourselves to include some examples which look as if they are likely to find application in the near future, despite our endeavour to illustrate the technology be examples that are actually in use, rather than possible processes that might one day find application but all too often really illustrate unfulfilled promise.

Book The Protein Protocols Handbook

Download or read book The Protein Protocols Handbook written by John M. Walker and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-10-02 with total page 1099 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Protein Protocols Handbook, Second Edition aims to provide a cross-section of analytical techniques commonly used for proteins and peptides, thus providing a benchtop manual and guide for those who are new to the protein chemistry laboratory and for those more established workers who wish to use a technique for the first time. All chapters are written in the same format as that used in the Methods in Molecular BiologyTM series. Each chapter opens with a description of the basic theory behind the method being described. The Materials section lists all the chemicals, reagents, buffers, and other materials necessary for carrying out the protocol. Since the principal goal of the book is to provide experimentalists with a full account of the practical steps necessary for carrying out each protocol successfully, the Methods section contains detailed st- by-step descriptions of every protocol that should result in the successful execution of each method. The Notes section complements the Methods material by indicating how best to deal with any problem or difficulty that may arise when using a given technique, and how to go about making the widest variety of modifications or alterations to the protocol. Since the first edition of this book was published in 1996 there have, of course, been significant developments in the field of protein chemistry.

Book The Carnivore Diet

Download or read book The Carnivore Diet written by Shawn Baker and published by Victory Belt Publishing. This book was released on 2019-11-19 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shawn Baker’s Carnivore Diet is a revolutionary, paradigm-breaking nutritional strategy that takes contemporary dietary theory and dumps it on its head. It breaks just about all the “rules” and delivers outstanding results. At its heart is a focus on simplicity rather than complexity, subtraction rather than addition, making this an incredibly effective diet that is also easy to follow. The Carnivore Diet reviews some of the supporting evolutionary, historical, and nutritional science that gives us clues as to why so many people are having great success with this meat-focused way of eating. It highlights dramatic real-world transformations experienced by people of all types. Common disease conditions that are often thought to be lifelong and progressive are often reversed on this diet, and in this book, Baker discusses some of the theory behind that phenomenon as well. It outlines a comprehensive strategy for incorporating the Carnivore Diet as a tool or a lifelong eating style, and Baker offers a thorough discussion of the most common misconceptions about this diet and the problems people have when transitioning to it.

Book Protein Protein Interactions

Download or read book Protein Protein Interactions written by Haian Fu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-02-03 with total page 525 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the mysteries stored in our DNA have been more completely revealed, scientists have begun to face the extraordinary challenge of unraveling the int- cate network of protein–protein interactions established by that DNA fra- work. It is increasingly clear that proteins continuously interact with one another in a highly regulated fashion to determine cell fate, such as proliferation, diff- entiation, or death. These protein–protein interactions enable and exert str- gent control over DNA replication, RNA transcription, protein translation, macromolecular assembly and degradation, and signal transduction; essentially all cellular functions involve protein–protein interactions. Thus, protein–p- tein interactions are fundamental for normal physiology in all organisms. Alt- ation of critical protein–protein interactions is thought to be involved in the development of many diseases, such as neurodegenerative disorders, cancers, and infectious diseases. Therefore, examination of when and how protein–p- tein interactions occur and how they are controlled is essential for understa- ing diverse biological processes as well as for elucidating the molecular basis of diseases and identifying potential targets for therapeutic interventions. Over the years, many innovative biochemical, biophysical, genetic, and computational approaches have been developed to detect and analyze p- tein–protein interactions. This multitude of techniques is mandated by the diversity of physical and chemical properties of proteins and the sensitivity of protein–protein interactions to cellular conditions.
