After graduation from Moss Point High School, he attended the University of South Alabama and earned a bachelor of science in music education. Later he earned a master's in education from the University of South Alabama, as well as a doctorate in education from Nova Southeastern University. Along with maintaining his professional career in education, Dr. Amacker has served as minister of music at various churches throughout the years. Barry and his wife Kathy have a daily radio program, Power to Press On, covering the southern counties of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and parts of Florida. Why do people love them, loathe them, and fear them? In Power Button, Rachel Plotnick traces the origins of today's push-button society by examining how buttons have been made, distributed, used, rejected, and refashioned throughout history. Newspapers helped make the Revolution, but they were not fully aware of the way they could fit into a democracy.
