Iโ€™m a homebody who prefers sweatpants, messy buns and hoodies. Iโ€™m more comfortable behind my laptop weaving love stories than trying to find my own happy ending after being burned one too many times by my own family. The captivating CEO billionaire is the last person I want to take. His money and social status only reminds me of the family I ran from. As it turns out, Iโ€™m not the only one who needs something. One fake date for a wedding turns into a full farce of a relationship. The rules are simple. Minimal PDA, limited social events, and absolutely no falling for each other. Somewhere along the way, things started going from fake to real. Only I donโ€™t know if I can trust him enough to let him break down the walls surrounding my heart.

Book The Year of the Blue Snow

Download or read book The Year of the Blue Snow written by Mel Marmer and published by SABR, Inc.. This book was released on 2013-07 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Catcher Gus Triandos dubbed the Philadelphia Phillies' 1964 season "the year of the blue snow"a rare thing that happens once in a great while. The Phillies were having a spectacular season in which everything was going right. They held a 6 1/2 game lead at the conclusion of play on September 20. With just 12 games to play, they seemingly had it made. But the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals never gave up, and when the Phillies lost ten consecutive games, it became a thrilling pennant race for Cardinals and Reds fans, but a horrific collapse for Phillies fanatics. But wait a minute. When it was seemingly too late, the Phillies finally won a gameโ€šร„รฎand the first-place Cardinals lost two games to the lowly New York Mets, so on the last day of the season there was the distinct possibility of a three-way tie for first place. It would have been a first in baseball history. On the final day of the season, the Phillies beat the Reds handily, 10-0. All eyes and ears were fixed on the Mets-Cardinals game. Could the Mets knock off the first-place Cardinals for a third straight game? The Mets carried a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning, but finally succumbed, 11-5. But what a season for Phillies fans. Jim Bunning had thrown the first perfect game in the last 84 years of NL history. The hero of the 1964 All-Star Game was the team's right fielder Johnny Callison, who brought the National League victory with the third walk-off home run in the history of the All-Star Game. The team also boasted the electrifying NL Rookie of the Year - the team's slugging third baseman Richie Allen (later called Dick Allen). St. Louis won the pennant, and went on to beat the Yankees in the World Series. But in Philadelphia, the '64 campaign left an ache that lasted for years. The 1964 Phillies not only "lost" the pennant but, following 1964, they got steadily worse. This book sheds light on the facts for the reader to determine answers to lingering questions they may still have about the Phillies team in the 1964 seasonโ€šร„รฎbut any book about a team is really about the players. A collaborative effort by 37 members of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), this work offers life stories of all the players and others (managers, coaches, owners, and broadcasters) associated with this star-crossed team, as well as essays of analysis and historical recaps. Book Negotiating at the United Nations

Download or read book Negotiating at the United Nations written by Rebecca W. Gaudiosi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-03-28 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a comprehensive practitioner's guide to negotiating at the United Nations. Although much of the content can be applied broadly, the guide focuses on navigating multilateral negotiations at the UN. The book is a tool to help new UN negotiators, explaining basic negotiation concepts and offering insight into the complexities of the UN system. It also offers a playbook for cooperation for negotiators at any level, exploring the dynamics of relationships and alliances, the art of chairing a negotiation, and the importance of balancing the power asymmetries present in any multilateral discussion. The book proposes improvements to the UN negotiation process and looks at the impact of information technologies on negotiation dynamics; it also shares stories from women UN delegates, illustrating what it means to be a female negotiator at the UN. This book is an exploration of the power of the individual in any negotiation, and of the responsibility all negotiators have in wielding that power to speak for a better world. This book will be of much interest to students of diplomacy, global governance, foreign policy, and International Relations, as well as practitioners and policymakers.

Book Negotiation as a Social Process

Download or read book Negotiation as a Social Process written by Roderick M. Kramer and published by SAGE Publications. This book was released on 1995-04-06 with total page 365 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a valuable book. It is a rare combination of appreciation and criticism; it is an eloquent statement of conceptual advocacy. Negotiation as a Social Process attempts the difficult task of the needed reform of a successful field and it does so by example as well as precept. . . . Kramer and Messick have done their research colleagues a great service; let us hope that they make the most of it. --Robert L. Kahn, Professor Emeritus, The University of Michigan "Negotiation as a Social Process puts the โ€ฒsocialโ€ฒ back in negotiation theory and research, where it belongs. Consisting of contributions by some of todayโ€ฒs leading negotiation researchers, this volume is a direct response to the undue emphasis placed in recent years on the role of cognition in negotiation. Just as one needs two hands to clap (unless you are a Zen Buddhist), one needs two or more sides to negotiate. This excellent collection explicitly addresses the social and relational context in which negotiations invariably occur and, in doing so, returns the discussion to its proper place." --Jeff Rubin, Program on Negotiation, Harvard Law School In the past several years, negotiation and conflict management research has emerged as one of the most active and productive areas of research in organizational behavior. Although most research has focused on the cognitive aspects of negotiation, few address the impact of social processes and contexts on the negotiation process. Because negotiations always occur in the context of some preexisting social relationship between the negotiating parties, this neglect is unfortunate. Editors Rod Kramer and Dave Messick have brought together original theory and research from many of the leading scholars in this important and emerging area of negotiation research. Negotiation as a Social Process covers a wide range of topics, including the role of group identification and accountability on negotiator judgment and decision making, the importance of power-dependence relations on negotiation, intergroup bargaining, coalitional dynamics in bargaining, social influence processes in negotiation, cross-cultural perspectives on negotiation, and the impact of social relationships on negotiation. Scholars, students, and professionals in organization, management, and communication studies will find Negotiation as a Social Process an important and thought-provoking volume.
