Book Classical and Modern Approaches in the Theory of Mechanisms

Download or read book Classical and Modern Approaches in the Theory of Mechanisms written by Nicolae Pandrea and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-02-14 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Classical and Modern Approaches in the Theory of Mechanisms is a study of mechanisms in the broadest sense, covering the theoretical background of mechanisms, their structures and components, the planar and spatial analysis of mechanisms, motion transmission, and technical approaches to kinematics, mechanical systems, and machine dynamics. In addition to classical approaches, the book presents two new methods: the analytic-assisted method using Turbo Pascal calculation programs, and the graphic-assisted method, outlining the steps required for the development of graphic constructions using AutoCAD; the applications of these methods are illustrated with examples. Aimed at students of mechanical engineering, and engineers designing and developing mechanisms in their own fields, this book provides a useful overview of classical theories, and modern approaches to the practical and creative application of mechanisms, in seeking solutions to increasingly complex problems.

  • Author : Vincenzo Vullo
  • Publisher : Springer Nature
  • Release : 2020-01-24
  • ISBN : 3030365026
  • Pages : 880 pages

Download or read book Gears written by Vincenzo Vullo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-24 with total page 880 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book explores the geometric and kinematic design of the various types of gears most commonly used in practical applications, also considering the problems concerning their cutting processes. The cylindrical spur and helical gears are first considered, determining their main geometric quantities in the light of interference and undercut problems, as well as the related kinematic parameters. Particular attention is paid to the profile shift of these types of gears either generated by rack-type cutter or by pinion-rack cutter. Among other things, profile-shifted toothing allows to obtain teeth shapes capable of greater strength and more balanced specific sliding, as well as to reduce the number of teeth below the minimum one to avoid the operating interference or undercut. These very important aspects of geometric-kinematic design of cylindrical spur and helical gears are then generalized and extended to the other examined types of gears most commonly used in practical applications, such as: straight bevel gears; crossed helical gears; worm gears; spiral bevel and hypoid gears. Finally, ordinary gear trains, planetary gear trains and face gear drives are discussed. Includes fully-developed exercises to draw the reader's attention to the problems that are of interest to the designer, as well as to clarify the calculation procedure Topics are addressed from a theoretical standpoint, but in such a way as not to lose sight of the physical phenomena that characterize the various types of gears which are examined The analytical and numerical solutions are formulated so as to be of interest not only to academics, but also to designers who deal with actual engineering problems concerning the gears

Book Novikov Conformal Gearing

Download or read book Novikov Conformal Gearing written by Stephen P. Radzevich and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-11-14 with total page 485 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the latest accomplishments in Novikov/conformal gearing as well as high-conformal gearing. It is focused primarily on strength calculation of gear teeth and the manufacturing of gears for Novikov/conformal and high-conformal gearing along with a brief discussion of achievements in the modern theory of gearing. The modern theory of gearing is the foundation of all optimal designs of gears, gear-sets, and transmissions of all known designs, as well as, of all those to be developed in the future. As even a small improvement in efficiency on a single gear can represent a significant cost saving, given the millions of gears used in industry every year, this volume provides the design and manufacturing engineer in invaluable resource.

Book Decoding the Mechanisms of Antikythera Astronomical Device

Download or read book Decoding the Mechanisms of Antikythera Astronomical Device written by Jian-Liang Lin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-10-26 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a systematic design methodology for decoding the interior structure of the Antikythera mechanism, an astronomical device from ancient Greece. The historical background, surviving evidence and reconstructions of the mechanism are introduced, and the historical development of astronomical achievements and various astronomical instruments are investigated. Pursuing an approach based on the conceptual design of modern mechanisms and bearing in mind the standards of science and technology at the time, all feasible designs of the six lost/incomplete/unclear subsystems are synthesized as illustrated examples, and 48 feasible designs of the complete interior structure are presented. This approach provides not only a logical tool for applying modern mechanical engineering knowledge to the reconstruction of the Antikythera mechanism, but also an innovative research direction for identifying the original structures of the mechanism in the future. In short, the book offers valuable new insights for all readers who are interested in the Antikythera mechanism.

  • Pages : 114 pages

Download or read book Forces of Nature written by Tom Tong and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2001-06-24 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Forces of Nature” gives a new and comprehensive perspective of how nature was formed. With a radically new idea, the author opens up a whole new dimension by looking at the mechanical principles of the universe. Through his years of research, he has found that rotational mechanics have been able to explain the complexities of the different systems working under different conditions. From the infinitesimal to the astronomically large bodies, he summarizes it with five states of rotation. The first state of rotation states that a particle’s tangential velocity will increase proportionally with the radius from the center of the system. It follows that the particle’s tangential velocity will decrease after a certain point in the second state. The third state describes that a particle’s tangential velocity is inversely proportional to the radius of the system. The fourth and fifth states are extensions when a particle is subjected to rotation and translation simultaneously, parallel or perpendicular towards the direction of the motion respectively. In the absence of an internal force, the particle will continue to translate and rotate in the same direction with reference to the original system unless an external force is applied.

Book excerpt: If you struggle with the rotation problems from advanced physics courses in high school or college, or are simply interested to learn about the basics of rotation, this book is right for you. Based on the experience of a student who self-taught for the AP Physics С Mechanics exam and written just to-the-point, with depth of connections, theoretical rigor, and clarity that a lot of other textbooks do not have, the guide draws out parallels between linear and rotational motion and expands on the specifics of rotational mechanics. Each concept and equation is presented in great detail and is supported by carefully selected examples that are followed by comprehensive solutions. The explanations are nicely written and easy to follow. This book will not only help you understand the basics of rotation, but it will also encourage you to further appreciate the underlying creativity of more complex problems in mechanics.
