Download or read book One Public written by Kevin Landis and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2022-11-17 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since its founding by Joseph Papp in the 1950s, The Public Theater has been an American artistic leader defined by its breadth of programming, from Hair and A Chorus Line, to Free Shakespeare in the Park. With the recent critical and financial success of Fun Home and Hamilton, and its emphasis on new play development, The Public's contemporary history has been equally remarkable, even as world crises and social changes have tested the mettle of its foundation of accessible and “radically inclusive” theatre for all. One Public: New York's Public Theater in the Era of Oskar Eustis presents the broader organization, its creative methodology, and its enormous growth over the past 20 years. Framed by the tenure and leadership of its current artistic director, the book tells the contemporary story, recorded over many interviews with iconic practitioners and performers ranging from Diane Paulus, Tony Kushner and Lynn Nottage to Kevin Kline, Chelsea Clinton and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Case-study driven, One Public uses oral history accounts and authorial experience to illuminate The Public Theater, Eustis and their cultural influence on the city of New York and the greater United States. The story highlights the successes and challenges of an institution at once espousing a mission of inclusivity and community-based arts creation, while also developing Broadway hits and international fame.
Download or read book Partnerships and Collaboration in Higher Education written by Pamela L. Eddy and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2010-07-13 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The current context in higher education is becoming increasingly complex. Coupled with this organizational complexitiy of operations is a climate of diminishing resources and funding for education in general. Calls for educational reform and limited resources make collaborative responses an attractive option because of the ability to pool talent and resources. Collaborative efforts take many forms. Partnerships may emerge from insitutions working together, departments working across institutions or with community partners, or colleges and universities pairing across national borders. Likewise, collaborations may emerge between and among faculty members that resemble more traditional research projects. From these faculty collaborations, organizational partnerships may then develop. This monograph explroes the key building blocks required to create successful joint ventures. One section reviews partnerships from an institutional perspective, another covers individual collaborations, and a section on future issues identifies threats to partnerships, emergence of international partnerships, and steps to create strategic partnerships. The target audience for this volume includes those interested in developing partnerships or better supporting existing alliances. Administrators with a goal of using partnerships to parlay organizational strengths while saving resources can anticipate problems with the formation of partnerships, undersnd the elemtns that provide support for group work, and learn how to frame the partnership to leverage commitment through a shared vision. Faculty interested in collaboration will find many valuable insights regarding the right questions to ask before committing to a project. And policymakers and grant-funding agencies can use the information to craft mandates and grant language to best support successful partnerships. ultimately, understanding the process of developing partnerships can result in more successful collaborations. This is Vol 36 Issue 2 of the Jossey Bass Ashe Higher Education Report. Each monograph in the series is the definitive analysis of a tough higher education problem, based on thorough research of pertinent literature and institutional experiences. Topics are identified by a national survey. Noted practitioners and scholars are then commissioned to write the reports, with experts providing critical reviews of each manuscript before publication.

Download or read book Supply Chain Collaboration written by Mei Cao and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-10-05 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To survive and thrive in the competition, firms have strived to achieve greater supply chain collaboration to leverage the resources and knowledge of suppliers and customers. Internet based technologies, particularly interorganizational systems, further extend the firms’ opportunities to strengthen their supply chain partnerships and share real-time information to optimize their operations. Supply Chain Collaboration: Roles of Interorganizational Systems, Trust, and Collaborative Culture explores the nature and characteristics, antecedents, and consequences of supply chain collaboration from multiple theoretical perspectives. Supply Chain Collaboration: Roles of Interorganizational Systems, Trust, and Collaborative Culture conceptualizes supply chain collaboration as seven interconnecting elements including information sharing, incentive alignment, goal congruence, decision synchronization, resource sharing, as well as communication and joint knowledge creation. These seven components define the occurrence of collaborative efforts and allow us to explain supply chain collaboration more precisely. Collaborative advantages are also divided into five components to capture the joint competitive advantages and benefits among supply chain partners. The definitions and measures developed here examine some central issue surrounding supply chain development but this is also followed up with real-life managerial practicalities. This balance of theory and practical application makes Supply Chain Collaboration: Roles of Interorganizational Systems, Trust, and Collaborative Culture a strong resource for industry practitioners and researchers alike.

Download or read book Networks of Domination written by Paul K. Macdonald and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2014 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the nineteenth century, European states conquered vast stretches of territory across the periphery of the international system. This book challenges the conventional wisdom that these conquests were the product of European military dominance or technological superiority. In contrast, it claims that favorable social conditions helped fuel peripheral conquest. European states enjoyed greatest success when they were able to recruit local collaborators and exploit divisions among elites in targeted societies. Different configurations of social ties connecting potential conquerors with elites in the periphery played a critical role in shaping patterns of peripheral conquest as well as the strategies conquerors employed. To demonstrate this argument, the book compares episodes of British colonial expansion in India, South Africa, and Nigeria during the nineteenth century. It also examines the contemporary applicability of the theory through an examination of the United States occupation of Iraq.

Download or read book Collaboration written by Paul W Mattessich, PhD and published by Turner Publishing Company. This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This third edition of Collaboration: What Makes It Work—written nearly 25 years after the first edition was published—is an example of the enduring importance of collaboration. Reaction to the first edition, published in 1992, showed that researchers and practitioners alike found it a useful tool. They appreciated its emphasis on providing a practical reference for decision-making that built upon credible, research-based information. The 21st century has brought with it rapid changes and increasingly complex challenges. This third edition in large part responds to the complexity witnessed daily in the authors' work with community, nonprofit, and government organizations. It offers new research and insights paired with practitioner wisdom, adding a “how-to” perspective to help readers put the success factors to work. Nearly 25 years after the first edition was published, it is not just the "how" of collaboration that has changed—who we are collaborating with has changed as well. Today, nearly every collaboration involves some degree of working across difference. Bringing together diverse people, organizations, or sectors in a way that will foster collaborative success requires a unique set of skills. This third edition will ground you in the factors that support successful collaboration and assist you in incorporating those factors into your work.
