Book Test Methods and Devices for Sintered Iron Rotating Bands

Download or read book Test Methods and Devices for Sintered Iron Rotating Bands written by J. D. Dale and published by . This book was released on 1953 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper is a discussion of the methods and devices used in testing the acceptability of sintered iron rotating bands, which are made by the powder metallurgy technique from commercial grades of iron powder. A state of urgency exists in the supply of copper available for the total military and civilian economy. For the third time in less than 50 years, the end uses of copper must be restricted to those where the combined physical or chemical properties, exclusive in copper, are most completely utilized. Several effective substitute materials are being developed to replace copper and gilding metal rotating bands, and among them is low-density sintered iron.

Book Powder Metallurgy German Die Assembly for Compacting Projectile Rotating Bands from Iron Powder

Download or read book Powder Metallurgy German Die Assembly for Compacting Projectile Rotating Bands from Iron Powder written by A. M. Burghardt and published by . This book was released on 1947 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A brief description is given of a German die assembly used in the manufacture of iron powder rotating bands for projectiles. The die assembly was designed to function in a semiautomatic press for double action compacting and ejecting of bands. The cavity of the die can be varied in depth up to a maximum of two inches. The die was used for compacting bands of various lengths for shells approximately three inches in diameter.

Book Powder Metallurgy Metallurgical Examination of Two German Sintered Iron 75 mm Rotating Bands

Download or read book Powder Metallurgy Metallurgical Examination of Two German Sintered Iron 75 mm Rotating Bands written by A. Squire and published by . This book was released on 1945 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two sintered iron rotating bands for 75-mm artillery shell were received with a request that they be subjected to a metallurgical examination to determine their composition and physical properties. The subject rotating bands had not been banded to shell and were obtained at the Veltrup Werken KG, Aachen, Germany. Among tests conducted for this 1945 report were: Density determinations, Chemical analysis, Hardness tests, Radial crushing tests, Shear tests, and Micro-examination.

Book Powder Metallurgy

Download or read book Powder Metallurgy written by S. A. Tsukerman and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Powder Metallurgy discusses the production of metal powders and other materials made from it. It defines the meaning of metal powders with some illustrations. The book also identifies the processes similar between the production of metal powder and ceramic products. The technology involved and the variation in the process of metallurgy are covered in some chapters of the book. The book enumerates certain advantages in using powder metallurgy over other processes. Methods such as the reduction of the oxides of metals, electrolysis, thermal dissociation, and chemical disintegration are explained. The origin and improvement made on the method are discussed in detail. The goods created using the process are also explained, as well as the types of metals that are being used. A chapter of the book focuses on the flaws of powder metallurgy. The book will provide useful information to metal smiths, chemists, students, and researchers in the field of chemistry.
