It brought together an unprecedented number of participants from all over the world and from different fields of knowledge. The theme: Encountering the Other: Within us, between us and in the world, a most relevant and urgent topic of the contemporary discourse among clinicians and academics alike, was explored in a rich and diverse program of pre-congress workshops, master classes, plenary and breakout presentations and posters. The Proceedings are published as two volumes: a printed edition of the plenary presentations, and an e-Book with the complete material presented at the Congress. To professionals as well as the general public, this collection of papers offers an inspiring insight into contemporary Jungian thinking from the classical to the latest research-based scientific lens. Book Une anthropologie entre pouvoirs et histoire

Download or read book Une anthropologie entre pouvoirs et histoire written by Eyolf Jul-Larsen and published by KARTHALA Editions. This book was released on 2011 with total page 662 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2014-10-24T00:00:00-04:00 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Distant Suffering written by Luc Boltanski and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1999-10-13 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Distant Suffering, first published in 1999, examines the moral and political implications for a spectator of the distant suffering of others as presented through the media. What are the morally acceptable responses to the sight of suffering on television, for example, when the viewer cannot act directly to affect the circumstances in which the suffering takes place? Luc Boltanski argues that spectators can actively involve themselves and others by speaking about what they have seen and how they were affected by it. Developing ideas in Adam Smith's moral theory, he examines three rhetorical 'topics' available for the expression of the spectator's response to suffering: the topics of denunciation and of sentiment and the aesthetic topic. The book concludes with a discussion of a 'crisis of pity' in relation to modern forms of humanitarianism. A possible way out of this crisis is suggested which involves an emphasis and focus on present suffering.

Book Communication dans la relation d aide

Download or read book Communication dans la relation d aide written by Gerard Egan and published by Beauchemin Chenelière Editeur. This book was released on 2005 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Feminist Research written by Peta Tancred-Sheriff and published by McGill-Queen's Press - MQUP. This book was released on 1988-10-01 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The six parts of Feminist Research: Prospect and Retrospect parallel the female life cycle, highlighting themes such as the increasing power of medical definitions of female experience - including conception, pregnancy, childbirth - and the nature of depression in women. New perspectives are offered on the specificity of the female approach to both learning and teaching and are emphasized in considering problems such as dealing with alcohol abuse and wife-battering. For example, Margaret Eichler opens the initial section, "Reproduction and Maternity," with an analysis of the new reproductive technologies. Making use of interviews and quantitative material, Ann Quénairt and Jane Gordon take up the theme of the medicalization of reproduction, suggesting that it has encouraged women to see the foetus as taking priority over the needs of the mother during pregnancy. This section is completed by Martin Thomas' interesting approach to gender distribution. Feminist Research: Prospect and Retrospect offers a thorough look at the problems of women today, suggesting that society is encountering a period of strong reaction to the feminist movement of the late sixties and early seventies. Marguerite Anderson argues that only the "dynamite of research" will allow construction of a positive route forward. This collection includes essays in both English and French.

Book Reconfiguring Ethiopia The Politics of Authoritarian Reform

Download or read book Reconfiguring Ethiopia The Politics of Authoritarian Reform written by Jon Abbink and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-22 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes stock of political reform in Ethiopia and the transformation of Ethiopian society since the adoption of multi-party politics and ethnic federalism in 1991. Decentralization, attempted democratization via ethno-national representation, and partial economic liberalization have reconfigured Ethiopian society and state in the past two decades. Yet, as the contributors to this volume demonstrate, ‘democracy’ in Ethiopia has not changed the authority structures and the culture of centralist decision-making of the past. The political system is tightly engineered and controlled from top to bottom by the ruling Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF). Navigating between its 1991 announcements to democratise the country and its aversion to power-sharing, the EPRDF has established a de facto one-party state that enjoys considerable international support. This ruling party has embarked upon a technocratic ‘developmental state’ trajectory ostensibly aimed at ‘depoliticizing’ national policy and delegitimizing alternative courses. The contributors analyze the dynamics of authoritarian state-building, political ethnicity, electoral politics and state-society relations that have marked the Ethiopian polity since the downfall of the socialist Derg regime. Chapters on ethnic federalism, 'revolutionary democracy', opposition parties, the press, the judiciary, state-religion, and state-foreign donor relations provide the most comprehensive and thought-provoking review of contemporary Ethiopian national politics to date. This book is based on a special issue of the Journal of Eastern African Studies.
