En segunda instancia, se verá sumergido en el modelado y la simulación de sistemas eléctricos en régimen no sinusoidal, mediante diversas representaciones matemáticas, técnicas de modelado y metodologías de implementación algorítmica. Por último, se enfrentará a una formulación diferente, propuesta por los autores, del concepto de potencia en régimen no sinusoidal. Todo esto, basado en un novedoso formalismo matemático, denominado teoría tensorial de la potencia eléctrica, y sus aplicaciones al estudio de la calidad de la energía. Con la formulación tensorial de los fenómenos eléctricos en términos de los conceptos de potencia es posible analizar, medir, evaluar y compensar de forma integral el deterioro de la calidad de la potencia eléctrica.

The presentation is primarily focused on different applications of the same power converter topology, the half-bridge voltage source inverter, considered both in its single- and three-phase implementation. This is chosen as the test case because, besides being simple and well known, it allows the discussion of a significant spectrum of the most frequently encountered digital control applications in power electronics, from digital pulse width modulation (DPWM) and space vector modulation (SVM), to inverter output current and voltage control, ending with the relatively more complex VSI applications related to the so called smart-grid scenario. This book aims to serve two purposes: (1) to give a basic, introductory knowledge of the digital control techniques applied to power converters; and (2) to raise the interest for discrete time control theory, stimulating new developments in its application to switching power converters.

The report was commissioned by the Swiss health authorities to inform decision-making on the further inclusion of homoeopathy in the list of services covered by statutory health insurance. Other studies carried out as part of the Swiss Complementary Medicine Evaluation Programme (PEK) caused a massive stir due to their schematic and exclusively quantitative (negative-)outcomes for homoeopathy. The present report, in contrast, offers a differentiated evaluation of the practice of homoeopathy in health care. It confirms homoeopathy as a valuable addition to the conventional medical landscape – a status it has been holding for a long time in practical health care.
