Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My house is made up of 32 generations of green hats, left behind a secret craftsmanship, opened the list of evildoers, led to Yinyang Road's free books, the city opened its mouth, there is no taboo, the dead rose up, see rich. Why did the dead girl have gold hidden in her belly? Wearing red clothes, how could her corpse speak human language when it had stiffened in the middle of the night? Three large seals and a piece of yellow paper; the body could not be broken. One by one, the undead truths hidden beneath the corpses would be unraveled from my hands. Wealth is in the sky, life and death cannot be decided by fate. What one sees is the skin, and what one cannot see is the soul.

Download or read book Best of Both Worlds written by Jeffrey Paparoa Holman and published by Penguin Books. This book was released on 2010 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1895 a meeting took place in the rugged Urewera ranges - Tuhoe country - that would have lasting effects on our views of traditional Maori society. Elsdon Best, a self-taught anthropologist and quartermaster on the road past Lake Waikaremoana, was sought out by a leading Tuhoe chief, Tutakangahau of Maungapohatu. The stories he gave to Best to be recorded for future generations are with us today. Best went on to become a noted Pakeha authority on a people he would style as the last of 'the oldtime Maori'. How much did the old man tell him? Was it freely given? Can Best's writings - so pervasive today in our understanding of Maori culture - be truly relied upon? In his unique examination of this historically significant relationship, Jeffrey Paparoa Holman poses such searching questions, further informing a vital national debate on the shared identity - and destiny - of Maori and Pakeha. 'This is our history at its best.' --Matthew Wright, Sunday Star-Times

Download or read book The Tarot written by Mouni Sadhu and published by . This book was released on 2007-12-01 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This scholarly work creates a new epoch in traditional occult philosophy. It is the first contemporary encyclopedic exposition of the great Western Tradition since the basic books by Eliphas Lvi and Papus, and it also has full practical utility. The Philosophical Tarot has always been recognized as a universal key to all wisdom attainable by human beings. This text will be of particular interest, because of its kindred approach, to the many readers of the extraordinary contemporary masterpiece Meditations on the Tarot, by an anonymous writer much valued in esoteric circles throughout the world. The present work is by no means just a theoretical treatise accessible only to specialists, for anyone can understand the initiatory concepts of Mouni Sadhu's Tarot, perceiving completely new horizons of thought, activity, psychology, cosmology, and practical esotericism. In this text a great number of questions which occur to the earnest seeker are answered in a new and fascinating way, and the solution of the philosophical equations arising from the Arcana opens new vistas in every field of life. The book is suitably subdivided into 100 separate lessons, allowing for systematic study.
Download or read book Expert evidence in criminal proceedings in England and Wales written by Great Britain: Law Commission and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2011-03-22 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This project addressed the admissibility of expert evidence in criminal proceedings in England and Wales. Currently, too much expert opinion evidence is admitted without adequate scrutiny because no clear test is being applied to determine whether the evidence is sufficiently reliable to be admitted. Juries may therefore be reaching conclusions on the basis of unreliable evidence, as confirmed by a number of miscarriages of justice in recent years. Following consultation on a discussion paper (LCCP 190, 2009, ISDBN 9780118404655) the Commission recommends that there should be a new reliability-based admissibility test for expert evidence in criminal proceedings. The test would not need to be applied routinely or unnecessarily, but it would be applied in appropriate cases and it would result in the exclusion of unreliable expert opinion evidence. Under the test, expert opinion evidence would not be admitted unless it was adjudged to be sufficiently reliable to go before a jury. The draft Criminal Evidence (Experts) Bill published with the report (as Appendix A) sets out the admissibility test and also provides the guidance judges would need when applying the test, setting out the key reasons why an expert's opinion evidence might be unreliable. The Bill also codifies (with slight modifications) the uncontroversial aspects of the present law, so that all the admissibility requirements for expert evidence would be set out in a single Act of Parliament and carry equal authority.
