Book The Portrait of a Prophet

Download or read book The Portrait of a Prophet written by Elijah Anuoluwapo Lamb and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: WHO IS A PROPHET, AND WHAT IS HIS MISSION? "The prophet is God's policeman on duty to reprove, rebuke, and exhort in the name of God and righteousness. The prophet is not famous, and his voice is the one crying in the wilderness of life. He is sold out to God, and the word 'compromise' is not known to him. He is one-way traffic on the highway of God." This intriguing and fascinating publication brings to light the scriptural sketch of who a genuine prophet of God should be. It describes his characteristics. It discloses vital lessons from his walk with God and also examines his mode of operation. When the Israelites (the church) wandered away from God and gave themselves to idolatry and false religion, God sent His prophets to confront the situation. It's a late hour on God's watch, and He is sending His prophets today "to make ready a people prepared for the Lord" (Luke 1:17). ELIJAH ANUOLUWAPO LAMB was born in England but grew up in Nigeria, where he was exposed to the church life from a young age by his mother. He made a conscious decision in August 1998 to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour. Yet, he didn't fully commit his life to the Lord until he had a major encounter with the Holy Spirit on August 23, 2007. He found himself laughing uncontrollably during morning prayers with a family he met upon his return to England. Since then, Elijah has had a full-blown passion for God and service to His church. He and his wife, Yvonne, continue the ministry of Christ in England with their daughter, Hannah.

Book Portraits of Old Russia

Download or read book Portraits of Old Russia written by Donald Ostrowski and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-07-17 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces readers to a little-known place and time in world history – early modern Russia, from its beginnings as Muscovy, in the fourteenth century, through the reign of Peter I (1689-1725) – by portraying the lives of representative individuals from the major levels of the society of that era. The portraits, written by professional historians, are imaginative reconstructions or composites of individual lives, rather than biographies. The portraits are arranged into socio-political categories, and include members of ruling families, government servitors, clerks, military personnel, church prelates, monks, provincial landowners, townspeople and artisans, Siberian explorers and traders, free peasants, serfs, slaves and holy fools. Using these portraits, the book brings old Russian society to life in an interesting way.

Book Portraits from the Life of the Prophet Muhammad saw

Download or read book Portraits from the Life of the Prophet Muhammad saw written by Tamir Abu Su'ood Muhammad and published by . This book was released on 2023-12-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Portraits from the Life of the Prophet" offers a captivating glimpse into the extraordinary life and character of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. For almost fourteen centuries, his name has stirred the hearts of millions, and this book beautifully encapsulates his resplendent legacy. In a world once clouded by misunderstanding and bias, this book stands as a beacon of enlightenment. It showcases the unwavering respect and admiration expressed by thinkers, philosophers, and scholars from diverse backgrounds who have recognized the greatness of Prophet Muhammad. Annie Besant, in "The Life and Teachings of Muhammad," hails him as a "mighty Prophet" whose teachings inspire reverence. W. Montgomery, in his writings, finds in him a man of integrity, and his readiness to endure persecution for his beliefs only underscores his authenticity. Yet, despite these accolades, the Western world has struggled to fully comprehend the brilliance of Prophet Muhammad's message. Misunderstandings persist, and it falls upon conscientious Muslims and their fair-minded non-Muslim friends to bridge the gaps through dialogue, communication, and informative publications. This book, "Portraits from the Life of the Prophet," invites readers to explore the life of this noble Prophet, providing a platform for interfaith dialogue and promoting the universal good that Islam and its teachings seek for all of humanity. As the world grows smaller, we must build bridges of understanding and harmony with our non-Muslim neighbors, emphasizing that Islam, through its Prophet, heralds blessings for the entire human race. In presenting this insightful treatise, we hope to foster mutual respect and appreciation among all readers. May Almighty Allah accept this effort as a sincere act performed solely for His sake, and may it serve as a source of enlightenment and inspiration for all who engage with it. Amen.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seen and Unseen teases out and explores how visual mediums construct visual cultures that often create limited perspectives of certain issues and groups. This volume focuses in particular on the representation of Islam and Muslims. It deals with fixed and stereotypical visual representations and explores alternative and challenging visual representations that reconstruct and dismantle existing belief systems. It approaches the topic from a vantage point of diverse multiple perspectives. Covering issues from Brunei, Iran, Egypt, and England and cyberspace, the essays in this volume examine the visual cultures of how Islam and Muslims are understood, misunderstood, misrepresented, or even embraced visually. Scholars in this volume draw on historical paintings, books and their covers, photography, and news to demonstrate the diversity and sometimes contradictory visual cultures that construct and adhere meaning to how Islam and Muslim people are seen. Contributors: Hoda Afshar, Jared Ahmed, Syed Farid Alatas, Sanaz Fotouhi, Christiane Gruber, Layla Hendow, Raihana M.M., Bruno Starrs and Esmaeil Zeiny.
