Book Organizational Information Systems in the Context of Globalization

Download or read book Organizational Information Systems in the Context of Globalization written by Mikko Korpela and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-05-31 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organizational Information Systems in the Context of Globalization exemplifies the role of social theory in approaching ICT utilization challenges in a globalization context. The debates raised on implementation, policy, organizations and organizing, and social dynamics, increase our awareness of the diversity of perspectives we need to delve into when framing the role of ICTs in the globalization agenda. The equal representation of managerial and non-managerial decision making contexts alerts us to the fact that ICTs should not be considered only as a corporate wealth creation prerogative. This book contains the selected proceedings of the Working Conference on Information Systems Perspectives and Challenges in the Context of Globalization, sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and held in Athens, Greece in June 2003.

Book Automatic Verification Methods for Finite State Systems

Download or read book Automatic Verification Methods for Finite State Systems written by Joseph Sifakis and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1990-01-10 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of a workshop held in Grenoble in June 1989. This was the first workshop entirely devoted to the verification of finite state systems. The workshop brought together researchers and practitioners interested in the development and use of methods, tools and theories for automatic verification of finite state systems. The goal at the workshop was to compare verification methods and tools to assist the applications designer. The papers in this volume review verification techniques for finite state systems and evaluate their relative advantages. The techniques considered cover various specification formalisms such as process algebras, automata and logics. Most of the papers focus on exploitation of existing results in three application areas: hardware design, communication protocols and real-time systems.

Book excerpt: DISC, the International Symposium on DIStributed Computing, is an annual forum for research presentations on all facets of distributed computing. DISC 2000 was held on4-6 October, 2000 in Toledo, Spain. This volume includes 23 contributed papers and the extended abstract of an invited lecture from last year’s DISC. It is expected that the regular papers will later be submitted in a more polished form to fully refereed scienti?c journals. The extended abstracts of this year’s invited lectures, by Jean-Claude Bermond and Sam Toueg, will appear in next year’s proceedings. We received over 100 regular submissions, a record for DISC. These s- missions were read and evaluated by the program committee, with the help of external reviewers when needed. Overall, the quality of the submissions was excellent, and we were unable to accept many deserving papers. This year’s Best Student Paper award goes to “Polynomial and Adaptive Long-Lived (2k?1)-Renaming” by Hagit Attiya and Arie Fouren. Arie Fouren is the student author.

Book Advances in Digital Forensics X

Download or read book Advances in Digital Forensics X written by Gilbert Peterson and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-10-09 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital forensics deals with the acquisition, preservation, examination, analysis and presentation of electronic evidence. Networked computing, wireless communications and portable electronic devices have expanded the role of digital forensics beyond traditional computer crime investigations. Practically every crime now involves some aspect of digital evidence; digital forensics provides the techniques and tools to articulate this evidence. Digital forensics also has myriad intelligence applications. Furthermore, it has a vital role in information assurance -- investigations of security breaches yield valuable information that can be used to design more secure systems. Advances in Digital Forensics X describes original research results and innovative applications in the discipline of digital forensics. In addition, it highlights some of the major technical and legal issues related to digital evidence and electronic crime investigations. The areas of coverage include: - Internet Crime Investigations; - Forensic Techniques; - Mobile Device Forensics; - Forensic Tools and Training. This book is the 10th volume in the annual series produced by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 11.9 on Digital Forensics, an international community of scientists, engineers and practitioners dedicated to advancing the state of the art of research and practice in digital forensics. The book contains a selection of twenty-two edited papers from the 10th Annual IFIP WG 11.9 International Conference on Digital Forensics, held in Vienna, Austria in the winter of 2014. Advances in Digital Forensics X is an important resource for researchers, faculty members and graduate students, as well as for practitioners and individuals engaged in research and development efforts for the law enforcement and intelligence communities.

Book Collaborative Networks for a Sustainable World

Download or read book Collaborative Networks for a Sustainable World written by Luis M. Camarinha-Matos and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-10-02 with total page 803 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Collaborative Networks for a Sustainable World Aiming to reach a sustainable world calls for a wider collaboration among multiple stakeholders from different origins, as the changes needed for sustainability exceed the capacity and capability of any individual actor. In recent years there has been a growing awareness both in the political sphere and in civil society including the bu- ness sectors, on the importance of sustainability. Therefore, this is an important and timely research issue, not only in terms of systems design but also as an effort to b- row and integrate contributions from different disciplines when designing and/or g- erning those systems. The discipline of collaborative networks especially, which has already emerged in many application sectors, shall play a key role in the implemen- tion of effective sustainability strategies. PRO-VE 2010 focused on sharing knowledge and experiences as well as identi- ing directions for further research and development in this area. The conference - dressed models, infrastructures, support tools, and governance principles developed for collaborative networks, as important resources to support multi-stakeholder s- tainable developments. Furthermore, the challenges of this theme open new research directions for CNs. PRO-VE 2010 held in St.
