Se habla sobre los daños que sufren las víctimas, de las características de los agresores, y de los sistemas de prevención, de tratamiento y de control para reducir estos delitos. En esta dirección se efectúa en el libro un análisis crítico de las actuales prácticas jurídico-penales orientadas a la pura denuncia, al aislamiento y, en último término, al encarcelamiento masivo y prolongado de maltratadores, violadores, etc., como bases de la prevención y el control de estos fenómenos violentos. El mayor deseo de los autores es que esta obra pueda contribuir a un mejor entendimiento social y a una explicación más certera de los fenómenos de violencia contra las mujeres, a una propuesta realista de actuación sobre las víctimas y los agresores y, por encima de todo, a una mejora de la prevención de la violencia en estos ámbitos.
