Book Mechanical Energy Conversion

Download or read book Mechanical Energy Conversion written by Mathieu Mory and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-07-23 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book studies the principles of mechanical energy conversion used in renewable energy sources derived from air and water: wind power, tidal power, hydroelectric power, osmotic energy, ocean thermal energy and wave energy. Mechanical Energy Conversion presents twelve application exercises and their answers. They enable the reader to first understand the physical principles of mechanical energy converters and then learn the method for sizing them. The book also reinforces the concepts of fluid mechanics and hydraulic turbo machinery, which are required to solve the exercises. This book aims to instruct readers on how to design an energy system. For each renewable energy source covered – and based on the quantity of energy or power supplied – it describes the production process, explains how it works and calculates the characteristics and dimensions of its components.

Book Hydraulic Machinery and Cavitation

Download or read book Hydraulic Machinery and Cavitation written by Enrique Cabrera and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-02-27 with total page 1210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hydraulic machinery such as turbines and pumps is widely used around the world. Related topics concerning design, operation and maintenance are of relevant interest. In this context, cavitation is a phenomenon to be taken into account, and this was treated in the XVIII IAHR Symposium on Hydraulic Machinery and Cavitation which took place in Valencia, Spain, 16th-19th September, 1996 and which was hosted by the Polytechnic University of Valencia. The proceedings of the Symposium have been published in two volumes. In this first volume, the papers included cover the following topics: Hydraulic Turbines, Analysis and Design Hydraulic Pumps Hydraulic Elements, Dynamic Characterization and Hydraulic Behaviour Cavitation and Sand Erosion In the second volume, the papers included cover the following topics: Hydraulic Transients and Control Systems Related to Hydraulic Machinery and Plants Oscillatory and Vibration Problems in Hydraulic Machinery and Power Stations Experimental Investigations related to Hydraulic Machinery and its Applications Practical Applications of the Hydraulic Machinery Monitoring, Predictive Maintenance and Refurbishment The 119 papers presented at the Symposium, from research groups, consulting companies and manufacturers, constitute an important collection for investigators, engineers and technicians who are interested in updated information on hydraulic machinery. This book is intended to be a reference text comprising the latest innovations on this subject.

Book Advances in Cryogenic Engineering

Download or read book Advances in Cryogenic Engineering written by Quan-Sheng Shu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-10-31 with total page 984 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, the technology of cryogenic comminution has been widely applied in the field of chemical engineering, food making, medicine production, and particularly in recycling of waste materials. Because of the increasing pollution of waste tires and the shortage of raw rubber resource, the recycling process for waste rubber products has become important and commercially viable. This technology has shown a great number of advantages such as causing no environmental pollution, requiring low energy consumption and producing high quality products. Hence, the normal crusher which was used to reclaim materials, such as waste tires, nylon, plastic and many polymer materials at atmospheric 12 temperature is being replaced by a cryogenic crusher. • In the cryogenic crusher, the property of the milled material is usually very sensitive to temperature change. When a crusher is in operation, it will generate a great deal of heat that causes the material temperature increased. Once the temperature increases over the vitrification temperature, the material property will change and lose the brittle behavior causing the energy consumption to rise sharply. Consequently, the comminution process cannot be continued. Therefore, it is believed that the cryogenic crusher is the most critical component in the cryogenic comminution system. The research on the temperature increase and energy consumption in the cryogenic crusher is not only to reduce the energy consumption of the crasher, but also to reduce the energy consumption of the cryogenic system.

Book CONTRIBUTION A L ETUDE DES RECIRCULATIONS DANS LES POMPES ROTODYNAMIQUES

Download or read book CONTRIBUTION A L ETUDE DES RECIRCULATIONS DANS LES POMPES ROTODYNAMIQUES written by Michel Toussaint (docteur en sciences).) and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LES PROBLEMES LIES AU FONCTIONNEMENT A DEBIT PARTIEL D'UNE POMPE CENTRIFUGE SONT NOMBREUX, LE PLUS IMPORTANT ETANT TOUTEFOIS L'APPARITION DE RECIRCULATIONS AU SEIN DE L'ECOULEMENT INTERNE A LA MACHINE. CES PHENOMENES D'ECOULEMENT DE RETOUR SONT LA CAUSE DE PERTURBATIONS DIVERSES ET SONT EVIDEMMENT DISSIPATEURS D'ENERGIE. CE TRAVAIL PRESENTE UNE ANALYSE EXPERIMENTALE DE L'ECOULEMENT AUX DEBITS PARTIELS DANS QUATRE POMPES CENTRIFUGES ET PROPOSE DES MODELES THEORIQUES DE PREVISIONS DE CES RECIRCULATIONS. IL EST DIVISE EN CINQ CHAPITRES: LE PREMIER PRESENTE L'ETUDE ET PRECISE LES OBJECTIFS VISES. LE SECOND PROPOSE UNE REVUE DE LA LITTERATURE SUR LE SUJET. LE TROISIEME CHAPITRE CONCERNE L'ETUDE EXPERIMENTALE ET PRESENTE LES RESULTATS DETAILLES DES EXPERIMENTATIONS DE L'UNE DE CES POMPES AINSI QU'UNE SYNTHESE DES RESULTATS OBTENUS POUR L'ENSEMBLE DES QUATRE POMPES. IL SE TERMINE PAR UNE ANALYSE DE L'ECOULEMENT INTERNE. LE QUATRIEME CHAPITRE PROPOSE TROIS APPROCHES DIFFERENTES DE MODELISATION PERMETTANT: DE PREVOIR LES COURBES CARACTERISTIQUES D'UNE POMPE CENTRIFUGE, DE DETERMINER EN FLUIDE PARFAIT LES CHAMPS DE VITESSES ET DE PRESSIONS DANS LA ROUE, ET DE CALCULER LES PROFILS DE LA VITESSE MOYENNE DANS LE PLAN MERIDIEN DE LA ROUE. DANS LE CINQUIEME ET DERNIER CHAPITRE, LES PRINCIPAUX RESULTATS SONT RESUMES ET DES PERSPECTIVES DE POURSUITE DE CETTE ETUDE PROPOSEES. LES ANNEXES PRESENTEES A LA FIN DE CE MEMOIRE CONCERNENT LA VELOCIMETRIE DOPPLER A LASER, L'OPTIMISATION DU TRACE D'UN DIFFUSEUR, DES REFLEXIONS SUR LES CARACTERISTIQUES DE L'ECOULEMENT DANS UNE POMPE, ET UN HISTORIQUE DES MACHINES A ELEVER LES EAUX
