Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perspectives in Supramolecular Chemistry will relate recent developments and new exciting approaches in supramolecular chemistry. In supramolecular chemistry, our aim is to understand molecular chemistry beyond the covalent bond - the series will concentrate on goal-orientated supramolecular chemistry. Perspectives in Supramolecular Chemistry will reflect research which develops supramolecular structures with specific new properties, such as recognition, transport and simulation of biosystems or new materials. The series will cover all areas from theoretical and modelling aspects through organic and inorganic chemistry and biochemistry to materials, solid-state and polymer sciences reflecting the many and varied applications of supramolecular structures in modern chemistry. Transition Metals in Supramolecular Chemistry Edited by Jean-Pierre Sauvage, Université Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France The chemistry of weak forces and non-covalent interactions as pioneered by Pedersen, Lehn and Cram is considered to be the origin of modern supramolecular chemistry. 30 years ago transition metals and their complexes were not regarded as important to this science. Transition Metals in Supramolecular Chemistry clearly demonstrates that today, transition metal complexes are routinely used to build large multicomponent architectures which display new and exciting applications including molecular switches, liquid crystals, and molecular magnets. Contents * Ligand and Metal Control of Self-Assembly in Supramolecular Chemistry * Bistability in Iron (II) Spin-Crossover Systems: A Supramolecular Function * Luminescent Sensors with and for Transition Metals * The Chirality of Polynuclear Transition Metal Complexes * Design and Serendipity in the Synthesis of Polynuclear Compounds of the 3d-metals * Rotaxanes: From Random to Transition Metal-Templated Threading of Rings at the Molecular Level * Metallomesogens - Supramolecular Organisation of Metal Complexes in Fluid Phases * Self-Assembly of Interlocked Structures with Cucurbituril Metal Ions and Metal Complexes Reflecting contemporary science, Transition Metals in Supramolecular Chemistry will inspire scientists and students interested in coordination chemistry, magnetochemistry, molecular sensors and switches, liquid crystals and artificial systems.

Book Rings Clusters and Polymers of Main Group and Transition Elements

Download or read book Rings Clusters and Polymers of Main Group and Transition Elements written by H. W. Roesky and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1989 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The chemistry of rings, clusters and polymers is becoming an important branch of inorganic and organometallic chemistry. Although inorganic rings have been known for more than 150 years, they have only been structurally characterized within the last fifty years. Inorganic and organometallic clusters and polymers have recently become the subject of intense interest and study because of their unusual properties and their potential for applications in the areas of catalysis, electronics and ceramics. Transition metal clusters have been examined as models for heterogeneous catalysts. Both rings and clusters might function as potential building blocks for extended solid state systems. In comparison with organic polymers, however, general and versatile methods for the synthesis of inorganic and organometallic polymers are not readily available. In particular, the preparation of polymers containing transition metal atoms in the polymer backbone is a challenge to inorganic chemistry. This book describes the rapid development which has taken place in this field.

Book Inorganic Reactions and Methods The Formation of Bonds to N P As Sb Bi Part 2

Download or read book Inorganic Reactions and Methods The Formation of Bonds to N P As Sb Bi Part 2 written by A. D. Norman and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-09-17 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the first time the discipline of modern inorganic chemistry has been systematized according to a plan constructed by a council of editorial advisors and consultants, among them three Nobel laureates (E.O. Fischer, H. Taube and G. Wilkinson). Rather than producing a collection of unrelated review articles, the series creates a framework which reflects the creative potential of this scientific discipline. Thus, it stimulates future development by identifying areas which are fruitful for further research. The work is indexed in a unique way by a structured system which maximizes its usefulness to the reader. It augments the organization of the work by providing additional routes of access for specific compounds, reactions and other topics.

Book Di and Polynuclear Compounds 5

Download or read book Di and Polynuclear Compounds 5 written by Ulf Thewalt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-11 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume is the fifth and for the present moment last in a series of volumes on organotitanium compounds. It covers the literature to the end of 1987. The volume continues the treatment of titanium compounds with the dinuclear and polynuclear complexes. The main part of this volume deals with the dinuclear complexes and therein (+-C5H5)2TiCl 2 is the most frequently described compound. Another key compound in this volume is the presumably oligomeric +-C5H5TiCl2 n. This volume also deals with different "titanocenes" de- scribed in the literature. There are also well-defined tri- and tetranuclear compounds, one penta- and a few hexanuclear compounds. "Black titanocene" is described together with the oligonuclear compounds. Polymers containing (+-C5H5)2TiIV units conclude this volume. As in the preceding volumes of this series, compounds of debatable existence and postulated reaction intermediates are included for completeness. A Formula Index and a Ligand Formula Index for this volume are included.

Book Trinuclear Compounds b

Download or read book Trinuclear Compounds b written by and published by Springer. This book was released on 1992-06-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volume closes the gap that exists within the "C" series on polynuclear compounds. It describes the trinuclear organoiron compounds containing only ligands of the 1L type, i.e., those carbon ligands bonded to iron through one carbon atom per ligand such as terminal and bridging carbonyls, isocyanides, and various triply bridging carbon groups. Other trinuclear compounds with nL ligands of higher order (n = 2 or more) have already been treated in Organoiron Compounds C7, 1985. Volume C 6b describes Fe3(CO)n compounds in which n = 10 and 11. The great variety of cluster types originates in (a) the existence of noncarbon ligands with Group 16 to 13 elements acting as iron-bridging atoms, (b) many hydrogen-bridged clusters and their corresponding deprotonated anions, and (c) numerous derivatives with donor ligands (2D) replacing terminal carbonyl groups. In addition, there are compounds containing other transition metals (M) in an Fe3Mx skeleton. The ÄHFe3(CO)11Ü - and ÄFe3(CO)11Ü 2- anions, their properties and derivatives are described in detail as they play an important role in many preparations and reactions of trinuclear iron carbonyl complexes. Many of the typical cluster structures, determined by X-ray diffraction analyses, are illustrated. This present volume contains an Empirical Formula Index and Ligand Formula Index for all of the compounds in volumes C 6a and C 6b.

Book Ytterbium II Group 6 7 Transition Metal Carbonyl Complexes

Download or read book Ytterbium II Group 6 7 Transition Metal Carbonyl Complexes written by Pavel V. Poplaukhin and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: New carbonyl complexes of divalent ytterbium and transition metals of groups 6, 7 of the periodic table have been prepared. The syntheses were carried out in systematic fashion with the aim of establishing general procedures suitable for preparation of a range of compounds of this type. The products obtained were characterized by means of IR spectroscopy and X-ray single crystal diffraction. Nineteen X-ray structures are reported herein, of which only one has been published before. The compounds studied can be divided into two major groups: the solvent-separated ion pairs, where the YbII cation is surrounded with solvent molecules acting as ligands, preventing interaction with the metal carbonylate anion; and complexes with the bridging carbonyl ligands (isocarbonyl ligands), where the cation and the anion are bound together through a -CO- link. New instances of condensation of the solvent-separated ion pairs into the isocarbonyl complexes have been discovered, and the mechanism for such transformation was proposed. The novel [Hg(W(CO)5)2]2− anion was discovered and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction. Its reactivity was briefly investigated.
