Book excerpt: The book "Redox" provides vast insight into the oxidation-reduction reactions to its readers. The book consists of three sections that include redox in the coordination compounds, organic compounds and polymerization; redox in electrochemistry; and redox and fish welfare. The first section consists of three chapters that describe the role of redox reactions in several fields such as transition metal chemistry, degradation processes of toxic compounds and dyes in treatment of water and wastewater, the catalysis of oxidation of organic compounds by metal active sites, and synthesis of copolymers. The second section consists of two chapters. The role of redox reactions and reactivity description of compounds are discussed in the second section of the book. The non-aqueous redox flow batteries are described in this section. The third section extensively discusses the redox balance and fish welfare and consists of one chapter.

Book Kinetic Study of Ion sensitized Terminations of Radical Polymerisation

Download or read book Kinetic Study of Ion sensitized Terminations of Radical Polymerisation written by E. A. S. Cavell and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A kinetic study of the polymerisation of acrylamide initiated by the thermal catalyst 4-4'-azo-bis-4-cyanopentanoic acid showed that up to 10% conversions the rate of polymerisation is directly proportional to the concentration of monomer and to the square root of the concentration of catalyst. In the presence of ferric perchlorate and decimolar perchloric acid, however, the overall rate of polymerisation is reduced and the rate now becomes directly proportional to the first power of the catalyst concentration and inversely proportional to the concentration of ferric ions present. Book Polymerization in Confined Space

Download or read book Polymerization in Confined Space written by Roland E. Stefandl and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polymerization of acrylamide in confined space was studied. The system used for the polymerization was a colloid of water/SDS/dodecane/pentanol. The colloidal was stable through the polymerization process only at specific compositions. The system revealed a lamellar water structure which housed the gamma initiated reaction prior and after polymerization the lamellar was birefringent. The polymer was characterized for its size and distribution. SANS which was employed to measure the colloidal system for swelling of the lamellar phase during all sections of the polymerization process showed a consistant lamellar thickest through all multicomponent transitions. The system was also observed under high shear showing thinning viscosity for synthesized polyacrylamide and a yield viscosity for very high molecular weight linear polyacrylamide.
