Book Water Soluble Synthetic Polymers

Download or read book Water Soluble Synthetic Polymers written by Philip Molyneux and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-10 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although several monographs and reviews have appeared on individual polymers of this type, and their applications and other technical aspects have also been discussed, this is apparently the first book to deal with the physical chemistry of water-soluble synthetic polymers as a group. This collective survey enables their properties and behaviour to be compared, and to be correlated with their molecular structures for predictive purposes. However, this has made it necessary to critically re-appraise much of the earlier fundamental work, so that current discussion of more recent work can be put on ta proper basis. Thus, of the 1800 or so references cited, the middle two-thirds related to the twenty-year period centred on about 1968. Nevertheless, sufficient key recent references have also been included so that the existing ‘state of the art is delineated.

Book Poly Ethylene Oxide

Download or read book Poly Ethylene Oxide written by F.E. Jr. Bailey and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poly (ethylene oxide) discusses the molecular characteristics of a crystalline, thermoplastic, water-soluble polymer. The book presents the preparation of ethylene oxide; the synthesis of high and low molecular weight polymer; and the complexes with acrylic and methacrylic acid polymers. The text describes the radiation crosslinking of solutions and discusses the electrical conduction of saturated organic polymers. Another topic of interest is the surface tension and density of polyethylene glycol. The section that follows describes the reactivity and comonomer structure of copolymers. The book will provide valuable insights for chemists, students, and researchers in the field of organic chemistry.

Book Chemistry and Technology of Polyols for Polyurethanes

Download or read book Chemistry and Technology of Polyols for Polyurethanes written by Mihail Ionescu and published by iSmithers Rapra Publishing. This book was released on 2005 with total page 610 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book considers the raw materials used to build the polyurethane polymeric architecture. It covers the chemistry and technology of oligo-polyol fabrication, the characteristics of the various oligo-polyol families and the effects of the oligo-polyol structure on the properties of the resulting polyurethane. It presents the details of oligo-polyol synthesis, and explains the chemical and physico-chemical subtleties of oligo-polyol fabrication. This book will be of interest to all specialists working with polyols for the manufacture of polyurethanes and to all researchers that would like to know more about polyol chemistry.

Book Macrocyclic Polyether Syntheses

Download or read book Macrocyclic Polyether Syntheses written by G. W. Gokel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It seems likely that no project of this magnitude is undertaken in the absence of several motivations. This book is no exception. There are, from our perspective, at least two rational reasons for conducting this cataloging and organizational effort. The first of these is the obvious fact that a very large number of macrocyclic polyethers have now been prepared and nowhere is there a comprehensive listing of them. A number of excellent reviews have been published dealing with one or more aspects of macrocycle chemistry, but we felt a great need for a single source listing known compounds. We have, the- fore, attempted to provide such a listing to assist ourselves in keeping track as well as, we hope, helping others in this field. We also felt that there was a need for a survey of methods which have been utilized in the syntheses of these cation binders so that the novice could establish some starting point. Wherever possible, we have also attempted to point to the motivations which en gendered the various syntheses. The somewhat irrational reason which propelled us into this endeavor was the ques tioning of Charlie Morgan who often asked if one or another obscure compound had been synthesized. As often as not, we were uncertain arid now at least have a reference which, if not absolutely complete, will at least save face.

Book Polyethers and Polyethylene Glycol

Download or read book Polyethers and Polyethylene Glycol written by Joyce Williams and published by Novinka Books. This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors of this book examine polyethers and polyethylene glycol. The first chapter in particular gives a systematic, balanced and comprehensive summary of the main aspects of photosensitive polyethylene glycol. The second chapter is a focus on the biodegradation of polyethylene glycols (PEGs) and polyethoxylated surfactants. The third and last chapter of this book focuses on polyethylene glycol based phase change polymers for thermal energy storage applications. Life nowadays is often centered around technologies, and it is of utmost important to have the primary and secondary resources ready for present and future needs. This last chapter addresses these concerns and various procedures in which thermal energy can be stored and used.

Book Telechelic Polymers Synthesis and Applications

Download or read book Telechelic Polymers Synthesis and Applications written by Eric J. Goethals and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This first-of-its-kind publication reviews the most impor-tant literature on the synthesis, properties, and applications of telechelic polymers. Written by a group of internationally known ex-perts in the field, this text contains a review table which allows the reader to search for given polymers with given end groups. Over 1,250 references are listed, covering primary and review articles as well as patents. Chapters include the preparation of telechelics by stepwise polymerization, anionic polymerization, radical polymer-ization, cationic polymerization, ring-opening polymerization and controlled polymer degradation. Polyols for the polyurethane pro-duction are described, as well as halato-telechelic polymers. Also, a more theoretical contribution on the physical properties of net-works formed from telechelic polymers is provided.
