Book excerpt: Dans le but d'obtenir une meilleure apprehension des aspects fondamentaux lies a l'etude des mecanismes de pollution des eaux souterraines par des produits petroliers, il est indispensable de connaitre les processus physico-chimiques de transfert d'hydrocarbures dans l'eau ainsi que les phenomenes d'echanges liquide-solide et liquide-gaz pouvant accompagner le transport par l'eau des hydrocarbures a travers le milieu poreux souterrain. Les differents travaux sont menes sur modeles physiques de laboratoire et sur un bassin appele sceres de dimensions 25 m x 12 m x 3 m simulant un aquifere alluvial. Cet outil experimental a permis de rendre compte de l'influence significative d'une fluctuation du niveau piezometrique de la nappe sur la repartition du gazole en phase et par consequent sur le transfert de 12 constituants aromatiques du gazole en milieu poreux. D'autres parametres tels que la temperature ou le temps de contact, ayant une influence importante au laboratoire, n'affectent pas la dissolution du produit dans un cas reel de pollution tant leur variation ou leur role est faible. L'application de methodes de depollution induisent transitoirement une augmentation du transfert de polluant dissous dans la nappe en particulier lors d'une infiltration d'une solution de tensio-actifs. Ce phenomene est lie a la redistribution de la phase huile sous l'influence de la solution de tensio-actifs et a une solubilisation selective des hydrocarbures aromatiques les plus hydrophobes du gazole. Une approche mathematique grace a un modele hydrodynamique a permis de quantifier plusieurs parametres intervenant lors du transport de solutes. Pour le cas du trichloroethylene, des experimentations preliminaires ont ete menees en se referant a une importante bibliographie, et comparees a celles effectuees pour le gazole
