Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible is like a jewelry box holding treasures of immeasurable value. For instance, John 3:16 can be compared to the hope diamond. It surpasses all others. Genealogy listings of who begat whom could be compared to mere gravel. Though maybe not life-changing, it serves its purpose. We cannot improve on GodaEUR(tm)s Word (it is what it is), but God has called us to be laborers together with Him (1 Corinthians 3:9). Just like a priceless diamond simply looks like a rock until it is shaped and put in the proper light, His Word is almost always hidden until the Holy Spirit reveals its worth, and sometimes another person can share its impact on their lives or even a looked over by most observation that puts it in a different light. Example, the shortest verse is John 11:35: aEURoeJesus wept.aEUR My take is that He had to bring Lazarus back. IaEUR(tm)ve seen many people surprised by this. A sermon is for the purpose of putting a shine on scripture, bringing out the beauty, revealing the intent of the message, making it understandable. This collection of poetry is basically quick-read minisermons given to the author by the Holy Spirit. Tertius was a scribe who wrote the Book of Romans while Paul dictated. The authoraEUR(tm)s education in poetry has only come from bathroom walls and Dr. Seuss. He credits God with its entire content. The style is down-to-earth, but its message is out of this world. It is his hope that believers will gain a closer relationship with God and unbelievers will begin a journey that leaves behind all the hopelessness, misery, darkness, and suffering of the soul that accompanies life apart from God (that he has experienced firsthand) and begin a joyous walk with Jesus toward the Promised Land. He hopes it entertains you and prays that it changes you for the better.

Download or read book Beginner Lapidary written by Dorian Getachew and published by . This book was released on 2021-08-15 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gem cutting, or lapidary, most certainly got its start as an offshoot of mundane everyday activities. A stone may have fallen into a fire where the heat caused it to break or flake. Perhaps a sharp edge resulted. Certainly, flint and other hard stone possess sharp edges, but a blade-like cutting edge on a newly flaked piece of rock suggested some very interesting possibilities. Hobbyists enjoyed cutting and polishing gemstones and mounting them in prefabricated jewelry settings or in the metalwork of their own creation (silversmithing). Primarily, lapidary hobbyists enjoyed creating three types of stonework: cabochons, faceting, tumbling stones. In all fields of lapidary, you'll need to take large pieces of stone and turn them into useful, smaller-sized pieces. If you're in the field, you might be able to drop them off a precipice and retrieve the pieces at the bottom. This book will show you how to do lapidary with techniques and easy patterns to follow. You will find it interesting to make jewelry for yourself or even sell it as a souvenir. Buy this book now and you will be amazed by its elegance and nobleness.

Book Gems in the Early Modern World

Download or read book Gems in the Early Modern World written by Michael Bycroft and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-27 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited collection is an interdisciplinary study of gems in the early modern world. It examines the relations between the art, science, and technology of gems, and it does so against the backdrop of an expanding global trade in gems. The eleven chapters are organised into three parts. The first part sets the scene by describing how gems moved around the early modern world, how they were set in motion, and how they were pulled together in the course of their travels. The second part is about value. It asks why people valued gems, how they determined the value of a given gem, and how the value of a gem was connected to its perceived place of origin. The third part deals with the skills involved in cutting, polishing, and mounting gems, and how these skills were transmitted and articulated by artisans. The common themes of all these chapters are materials, knowledge and global trade. The contributors to this volume focus on the material properties of gems such as their weight and hardness, on the knowledge involved in exchanging them and valuing them, and on the cultural consequences of the expanding trade in gems in Eurasia and the Americas.
