Book Vibronic Processes in Inorganic Chemistry

Download or read book Vibronic Processes in Inorganic Chemistry written by Colin D. Flint and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume reports the main lectures and seminars given at the NATO Advanced Study Institute on Vibronic Processes in Inorganic Chemistry held at Riva del Sole, Tuscany, Italy between 7th and 18th September 1988. In addition to the about 40 hours of lectures repres ented by this volume, a further fifteen lectures on current research topics were given by the other participants. Many factors contributed to the decision to hold this ASI but the final trigger was given at a meeeting in Padova when Marco Bettinelli, Lorenzo Disipio and Gianluigi Ingletto asked me to recommend a text where the diverse conceptual, spectroscopic and structural consequences of the impossibility of treating the motions of the electrons and nuclei independantly in inorganic compounds were presented. There seemed to be no suitable comprehensive text where the relationship between the relatively simple theoretical ideas and the huge range of their application in inorganic chemistry and physics was developed. The Institute and this text are a contribution to filling this gap. Seventy-nine participants from fifteen countries attended the Institute. Topics raised in the lectures and from the participants own research frequently led to discussions which went on long into the night.

Book Molecular Spectroscopy

Download or read book Molecular Spectroscopy written by Yukihiro Ozaki and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-04-26 with total page 833 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Uniquely creates a strong bridge between molecular spectroscopy and quantum chemistry This two-volume book consists of many reviews reporting new applications of quantum chemistry to molecular spectroscopy (Raman, infrared, near-infrared, terahertz, far-ultraviolet, etc.). It contains brief introductions to quantum chemistry for spectroscopists, and to the recent progress on molecular spectroscopy for quantum chemists. Molecular Spectroscopy: A Quantum Chemistry Approach examines the recent progress made in the field of molecular spectroscopy; the state of the art of quantum chemistry for molecular spectroscopy; and more. It offers multiple chapters covering the application of quantum chemistry to: visible absorption and fluorescence, Raman spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, near-infrared spectroscopy, terahertz spectroscopy, and far-ultraviolet spectroscopy. It presents readers with hydrogen bonding studies by vibrational spectroscopy and quantum chemistry, as well as vibrational spectroscopy and quantum chemistry studies on both biological systems and nano science. The book also looks at vibrational anharmonicity and overtones, and nonlinear and time-resolved spectroscopy. -Comprehensively covers existing and recent applications of quantum chemistry to molecular spectroscopy -Introduces the quantum chemistry for the field of spectroscopy and the advancements being made on molecular spectroscopy for quantum chemistry -Edited by world leading experts who have long standing, extensive experience and international standing in the field Molecular Spectroscopy: A Quantum Chemistry Approach is an ideal book for analytical chemists, theoretical chemists, chemists, biochemists, materials scientists, biologists, and physicists interested in the subject.

Book Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy

Download or read book Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy written by Günter G. Hoffmann and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2023-09-18 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quite a few excellent books about vibrational spectroscopy have already been published. So why write a new one? The last years have seen the birth of new techniques and, first of all, a wealth of new applications. Therefore, a lot of new users need an introduction to these techniques and applications, but, if they are new to vibrational spectroscopy, an introduction to the parent techniques as well. Vibrational spectroscopies can detect and analyze vibrations in molecules. Mainly two different forms are used today: Infrared and Raman spectroscopy. Vibrational spectroscopy is used by chemists to characterize their substances. If the spectra of substances are known, analytical chemists can use them to analyze a mixture of chemicals. Samples may be analyzed even with spatial resolution, on the microscopic as well as on the macroscopic scale. "Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy" is intended for researchers or lecturers in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science and Life Sciences, who are interested in the composition and properties of their samples. It describes how vibrational spectroscopy will enable them to examine thin layers, surfaces and interfaces, and also improve their knowledge about the properties of composites. Special chapters introduce VCD, ROA, and TERS. The book can serve as a short introduction to vibrational spectroscopy too, so that students at the first graduate level will benefit from it as well.

Book Lattice Dynamics of Molecular Crystals

Download or read book Lattice Dynamics of Molecular Crystals written by S. Califano and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The lattice dynamics of molecular crystals has undergone an enor mous progress in these last twenty years or so. The experimental and theoretical advances have been realized by two different approaches. From one side molecular spectroscopists have been primarily interested in the vibrational properties of the molecules themselves subjected to the perturbing influence of the crystal environment. From the other side the lattice dynamical theory familiar in solid state physics for atomic lattices has been extended to molecular arrays. Although the overlap between the two approaches has been considerable the reference material is rather scattered in specialized papers. The purpose of this book is to partly fill this gap and to discuss the lattice dynamical theory of molecular crystals in a compact and specialized form. As such, the book is not intended exclusively for researchers and specialists in the field but also for graduate students entering an activity in solid state mo lecular spectroscopy.
