Book Deep Inelastic Polarized Electron proton Scattering in QCD microform

Download or read book Deep Inelastic Polarized Electron proton Scattering in QCD microform written by Guy C. Marleau and published by National Library of Canada. This book was released on 1983 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "We compute the anomalous dimension (gamma)(n) and (gamma)(, ns)(n) needed in the evaluation of the polarized structure function G(,1)(q('2)) in electron-proton scattering, up to and including the order g('4) contributions in the minimal subtraction scheme in perturbative QCD. Both the analytic expression and the numerical result for (gamma)(n) and (gamma)(, ns)(n) with n = 2, 4, 6 ..., 20 are obtained. We also evaluate the second moment of flavor singlet and the flavor non-singlet part of G(,1)(q('2)) in QCD, with 4 and 6 flavors with the Wilson coefficients left as unknowns."--

Book Deep Inelastic Scattering

Download or read book Deep Inelastic Scattering written by Robin Devenish and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2011-04-28 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an up-to-date, self-contained account of deep inelastic scattering in high-energy physics, intended for graduate students and physicists new to the subject. It covers the classic results which led to the quark-parton model of hadrons and the establishment of quantum chromodynamics as the theory of the strong nuclear force, in addition to new vistas in the subject opened up by the electron-proton collider HERA. The extraction of parton momentum distribution functions, a key input for physics at hadron colliders such as the Tevatron at Fermi Lab and the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, is described in detail. The challenges of the HERA data at 'low x' are described and possible explanations in terms of gluon dynamics and other models outlined. Other chapters cover: jet production at large momentum transfer and the determination of the strong coupling constant, electroweak interactions at very high momentum transfers, the extension of deep inelastic techniques to include hadronic probes, a summary of fully polarised inelastic scattering and the spin structure of the nucleon, and finally a brief account of methods in searching for signals 'beyond the standard model'.

This book was released on 2007-01-23 with total page 996 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings present the most up-to-date status of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) physics. Topics such as structure function measurements and phenomenology, quantum chromodynamics (QCD) studies in DIS and photoproduction, spin physics and diffractive interactions are reviewed in detail, with emphasis on those studies that push the test of QCD and the Standard Model to the limits of their present range of validity, towards both the very high and the very low four-momentum transfers in lepton-proton scattering.

Book Radiative Corrections to Polarized Inelastic Scattering in Coincidence

Download or read book Radiative Corrections to Polarized Inelastic Scattering in Coincidence written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complete analysis of the model-independent leading radiative corrections to cross-section and polarization observables in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic electron-nucleus scattering with detection of a proton and scattered electron in coincidence has been performed. The basis of the calculations consists of the Drell-Yan like representation in electrodynamics for both spin-independent and spin-dependent parts of the cross-section in terms of the electron structure functions. The applications to the polarization transfer effect from longitudinally polarized electron beam to detected proton as well as to scattering by the polarized target are considered.

Book Study of Deep Inelastic Scattering of Polarized Electrons Off Polarized Deuterons

Download or read book Study of Deep Inelastic Scattering of Polarized Electrons Off Polarized Deuterons written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis describes a 29GeV electron - nucleon scattering experiment carried out at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC). Highly polarized electrons are scattered off a polarized ND[sub 3] target. Scattered electrons are detected by two spectrometers located in End Station A (ESA) at angles of 4.5[degrees] and 7[degrees] with respect to the beam axis. We have measured the spin structure function g[sub 1] of deuteron over the range of 0.029

Book On the Q2 Variation of Spin Dependent Deep Inelastic Electron Proton Scattering

Download or read book On the Q2 Variation of Spin Dependent Deep Inelastic Electron Proton Scattering written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We suggest a phenomenological model describing the sum rules for the real and virtual polarized photon absorption on the nucleon. The contribution of the isobar delta-(1232) electroproduction, essential at small Q2, has been subtracted quantitatively. The model predictions are compared with the results of the EMC polarized structure function measurements on the photon.

This book was released on 2002 with total page 882 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The proceedings of DIS 2001 present the most updated status of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) physics. Moreover, this workshop coincided with the transition between the first period of experimentation at the HERA ep collider at DESY and the start of the updated HERA II operation -- allowing a review of what has been learned up to now and a discussion on the main future directions of research in this field.

Book Theory of High energy Electron Scattering by Composite Targets

Download or read book Theory of High energy Electron Scattering by Composite Targets written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emphasis of these expository lectures is on the role of relativistic invariance and the unity of the theory for medium and high energies. Sec. 2 introduces the kinematic notation and provides an elementary derivation of the general cross section. The relevant properties of the Poincare group and the transformation properties of current operators and target states are described in Sec 3. In Sec. 4 representations of target states with kinematic light-front symmetry are briefly discussed. The focus is on two applications. An impulse approximation of inclusive electron nucleus scattering at both medium and high energies. A parton model of the proton applied to deep inelastic scattering of polarized electrons by polarized protons. 19 refs.

Book Physics With A High Luminosity Polarized Electron Ion Collider Proceedings Of The Workshop On High Energy Nuclear Physics Epic 99

Download or read book Physics With A High Luminosity Polarized Electron Ion Collider Proceedings Of The Workshop On High Energy Nuclear Physics Epic 99 written by Leslie C Bland and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000-02-28 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the Workshop on Physics with an Electron-Polarized Ion Collider (EPIC-99), jointly sponsored by the Indiana University Cyclotron Facility and Nuclear Theory Center, and the Institute for Nuclear Theory, University of Washington. It was held in Bloomington, Indiana, April 8-11, 1999. The purpose was to discuss important new physics phenomena which could be investigated with a high-luminosity asymmetric collider consisting of a beam of polarized electrons (with energy roughly 5 GeV), and a beam of polarized protons or other light ions of approximately 40 GeV energy. The Workshop brought together experts in the field who highlighted the unique potential for such a facility, and compared the prospects and challenges for this collider with present and proposed facilities around the world. The proceedings of this Workshop summarize our currently available knowledge on the physics potential for a polarized asymmetric collider. It provides a unique collection of information on the opportunities which such a facility would provide.
