Of course, the hospital is just the beginning; the Chartreuse Caboose isn’t the best place to recuperate and heal. His cardiac care nurse, Sydney Combs, has the perfect solution: her recently deceased aunt's home. The Ripples move into the ancient Victorian mansion free of charge for the next two months. Book The Turquoise Ripple

Download or read book The Turquoise Ripple written by Esra Üstar O?uz and published by BalboaPress. This book was released on 2013-04-10 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Turquoise Ripple is about effortless self-transformation. Esra star Ouz speaks from her heart center and gives many life-changing examples, including those drawn from her own experience. She has observed that the intention to change is the key trigger. Once the intention is set, all we need do is stay aware and allow the transformation. Turquoise means Turkish in French. It is a color deeply engraved in Turkish history, culture, and art. Being a Turkish native, Esras intention is that through this book, her call for transcending limitations and embracing change, transformation, and unconditional love may ripple out to the whole world. According to many wisdom traditions, turquoise is about being heart centered and speaking ones truth. Through its unique energy, this color helps to balance thoughts and emotions, recharge spirits, and open the door to spiritual growth. Since turquoise heightens our intuitive ability and alleviates loneliness, it brings us closer to unity consciousness. As the Superconscious said during Esras practice, You (light workers) will continue to grow in number and come together. The circle will grow bigger, like the ripple created by a pebble thrown in the water. It does not matter where you are in the circle. One vibration will affect the other, this earth, this universe, and others; one pebble is enough.

Book Ten Poems to Open Your Heart

Download or read book Ten Poems to Open Your Heart written by Roger Housden and published by Harmony. This book was released on 2007-12-18 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ten Poems to Open Your Heart is a book devoted to love: to the intimacy of personal love and lovemaking, to a loving compassion for others, and to the love that embraces both this world and the next. This new volume from Roger Housden features a few of the same poets as his extraordinarily moving Ten Poems to Change Your Life, such as Mary Oliver and Pablo Neruda, along with contributions from Sharon Olds, Wislawa Szymborska, Czeslaw Milosz, Denise Levertov, and others. Any one of the ten poems and, indeed, any one of Housden’s reflections on them, can open, gladden, or pierce your heart. Through the voices of these ten inspiring poets, and through illustrations from his own life, Housden expresses the tenderness, beauty, joys, and sorrows of love, the presence of which, more than anything else, gives human existence its meaning. As Housden says in his eloquent introduction, “Great poetry happens when the mind is looking the other way and words fall from the sky to shape a moment that would normally be untranslatable. . . . When the heart opens, we forget ourselves and the world pours in: this world, and also the invisible world of meaning that sustains everything that was and ever shall be.” From the Hardcover edition.

Book Regions of Unlikeness

Download or read book Regions of Unlikeness written by Thomas Gardner and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Regions of Unlikeness Thomas Gardner explores the ways a number of quite different twentieth-century American poets, including Elizabeth Bishop, John Ashbery, Robert Hass, Jorie Graham, and Michael Palmer, frame their work as taking place within, and being brought to life by, an acknowledgment of the limits of language. Gardner approaches their poetry in light of philosopher Stanley Cavell?s remarkably similar engagement with the issues of skepticism and linguistic finitude. The skeptic?s refusal to settle for anything less than perfect knowledge of the world, Cavell maintains, amounts to a refusal to accept the fact of human finitude. Gardner argues that both Cavell and the poets he discusses reject skepticism?s world-erasing conclusions but nonetheless honor the truth about the limits of knowledge that skepticism keeps alive. In calling attention to the limits of such acts as describing or remembering, the poets Gardner examines attempt to renew language by teasing a charged drama out of their inability to grasp with certainty. ø Juxtaposed with Gardner?s readings of the work of the younger poets are his interviews with them. In many ways, these conversations are at the core of Gardner?s book, demonstrating the wide-ranging implications of the struggles and mappings enacted in the poems. The interviews are themselves examples of the charged intimacy Gardner deals with in his readings.

Book Life Writing Genre and Criticism in the Texts of Sylvia Townsend Warner and Valentine Ackland

Download or read book Life Writing Genre and Criticism in the Texts of Sylvia Townsend Warner and Valentine Ackland written by Ailsa Granne and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-05-27 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sylvia Townsend Warner has increasingly become recognized as a significant and distinctive talent amongst twentieth-century authors. This volume explores her remarkable relationship with Valentine Ackland - her partner for forty years - by closely examining their letters and diaries alongside a selection of their other texts, in particular their poetry. This analysis reveals the crucial role their writing played in establishing, maintaining, and defending their intimacy and describes the emergence of an alternative textual world upon which they became wholly reliant. Examining how Warner and Ackland exploited the distance between their lived life and their accounts of it, gives rise to many fascinating and untold stories. Furthermore, in investigating the fluidity of the boundaries between letters, diaries and fiction this book also provides a fresh perspective on these life-writing forms. Warner and Ackland's need to speak as women, writers and lovers, shaped their texts, so that they became not simply records of events, nor acts of communication, but complex documents in which love is won and lost, myths are created, and lives are changed, as will be the perspectives of those who read this book.

Book Poetry from Spirit

  • Pages : 78 pages

Download or read book Poetry from Spirit written by Myra J McPherson and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2013-10 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book of poetry is somewhat special. I can only tell you how it came to be, and that I am only the messenger. There is much more poetry waiting to be written. I have no idea what that is at the moment, and words will only return when this project is underway. The first poem in this book, "A Child Is Born," should make everyone think of their own role in this life. "I Am" will hopefully help you understand exactly what you are and how little respect and understanding you hold for your own heart. "The People Watcher" came from an entity, not physical, and haunted me in a very puzzling way, for days as I recognized various things about myself and others. There is something to learn, or more correctly to remember, in every poem. There is one knocking on my door at this moment that needs me to explain the balance of this world of ours, but that is for another day. I hope you enjoy the words printed here and that they light a few lights of understanding; that they may help to show you another way to make your life full of love and joy. I try to live with as few rules as possible and keep those rules clean. Firstly, the very old and trusted "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Also "to be kind." Remember that "today is all you have." And finally "love is all there is." I wish everyone love in your hearts, peace in your minds and true joy in your lives."

Book Forbidden Games and Video Poems

Download or read book Forbidden Games and Video Poems written by Yang Mu and published by University of Washington Press. This book was released on 2016-06-01 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two contemporary poets from Taiwan, Yang Mu (pen name for Wang Ching-hsien, b. 1940) and Lo Ch’ing (pen name for Lo Ch’ing-che, b. 1948), are represented in this bilingual edition of Chinese poetry ranging from the romantic to the postmodern. Both poets were involved in the selection of poems for this volume, the first edition in any language of their selected work. Their backgrounds, literary styles, and professional lifes are profiled and compared by translator Joseph R. Allen in critical essays that show how Yang and Lo represent basic directions in modern Chinese poetics and how they have contributed to the definition of modernism and postmodernism in China. The book’s organization reflects each poet’s method of composition. Yang’s poems are chronologically arrangd, as his poetry tends to describe a narrative line that closely parallels his own biography. Lo’s poems, which explore a world of concept and metaphor, are grouped by theme. Although each poet has a range of poetic voices, Yang’s work can be considered the peak of high modernism in Chinese poetry, while Lo’s more problematic work suggests the direction of new explorations in the art. In this way the two poets are mutually illuminating. Each group of poems is prefaced by an “illustration” that draws from another side of the poet’s intellectual life. For Yang, who is a professor of comparative literature at the University of Washington, these are excerpts from his academic work (written under the name C.H. Wang) in English. The poems by Lo, a well-known painter living in Taiwan, are illustrated by five of his own ink paintings.
