Book Potpourri of Poetry and Song

Download or read book Potpourri of Poetry and Song written by Lydia Esmer and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-08-24 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Readers of this book will discover amazing variety, not only in themes, but also in poetic style. Lydia herself invented a three-syllable line of carefree verse that she employed in her "August Love in Tennessee". Her poems are a veritable visual feast much like a painting, owing to her adroit use of descriptive terms. The author has mastered the art of poetic storytelling, as well. We witness the character of five individuals unfold in a three-page poem. See "A Mother's Quilt". Lydia's poems are decidedly upbeat and reflect the joyful hope that characterizes her life as a Christian.

Book The Poems of T S Eliot Volume I

Download or read book The Poems of T S Eliot Volume I written by T. S. Eliot and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2018-12-04 with total page 1216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first volume of the first paperback edition of The Poems of T. S. Eliot This two-volume critical edition of T. S. Eliot’s poems establishes a new text of the Collected Poems 1909–1962, rectifying accidental omissions and errors that have crept in during the century since Eliot’s astonishing debut, “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.” In addition to the masterpieces, The Poems of T. S. Eliot contains the poems of Eliot’s youth, which were rediscovered only decades later; poems that circulated privately during his lifetime; and love poems from his final years, written for his wife, Valerie. Calling upon Eliot’s critical writings as well as his drafts, letters, and other original materials, Christopher Ricks and Jim McCue have provided a commentary that illuminates the imaginative life of each poem. This first volume respects Eliot’s decisions by opening with his Collected Poems 1909–1962 as he arranged and issued it shortly before his death. This is followed by poems uncollected but either written for or suitable for publication, and by a new reading text of the drafts of The Waste Land. The second volume opens with the two books of verse of other kinds that Eliot issued: Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats and Anabasis, his translation of St.-John Perse’s Anabase. Each of these sections is accompanied by its own commentary. Finally, pertaining to the entire edition, there is a comprehensive textual history that contains not only variants from all known drafts and the many printings but also extended passages amounting to hundreds of lines of compelling verse.

Book Poetic Potpourri

    Book Details:
  • Author : Robert Turner
  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2019-05-31
  • ISBN : 1796037346
  • Pages : 89 pages

Download or read book Poetic Potpourri written by Robert Turner and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-05-31 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some of the poems were written to describe various travel adventures, whereas others describe specific landmarks that were of interest. Many are just whimsical subjects that would pop into my mind as I was trying to go to sleep. Rather than counting sheep, I would compose a poem and hope that I would remember it in the morning so I could put the words on paper in poetic form. There is one epic poem on the Battle of Chancellorsville and one on Stonewall Jackson’s death and several Irish poems. As I said earlier, this is an eclectic collection. I have enjoyed writing them, and I hope you enjoy reading them.
