Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I DO SOLEMNLY SWEAR..That was my oath to my god and country in August 1963. I was an infantryman and a paratrooper for the U.S. Army. I fought for my country in Vietnam. After my discharge I was a self contractor and had a son and daughter. To this day that has been my life. Literally no legacy to be remembered by maybe my great or great great grandchildren. Now I need something so if someone asked them who I was, they could prove I was a real person and maybe Id be noted for something special. I dream constantly and write poetry and would like to publish a memoir. It has to start now at the age of sixty nine as my life has consisted of nothing special to this point. I would like to continue writing and publishing more poetry and a novel. My heart has stopped five times and now I am obsessed in having a legacy to put me in a category where I may be extra special for something. Maybe in thirty or forty years someone may say OH Yes, I Do Remember Him He..??

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “In the Night I Dreamed of You” is a collection of poetry by British poet Amy Levy connected through the common themes of love, dreams, and death. Levy suffered with major depression, growing worse as she got closer to her 30s and becoming aware of her growing deafness. Although showing such talents at a young age, Levy took her own life 2 months before her 28th birthday. This collection looks into the mind of this struggling poet and perhaps her final poetic thoughts and struggles with depression. Contents include: “New Love, New Life”, “Impotens”, “Youth and Love”, “The Dream”, “On the Threshold”, “The Birch-Tree at Loschwitz”, “In the Night”, “Borderland”, “At Dawn”, “Last Words”, “June”, “Reminiscence”, “The Sequel to 'A Reminiscence'”, “In the Mile End Road”, “Contradictions”, “Twilight”, and “In September”. Amy Judith Levy (1861–1889) was a British poet, novelist, and essayist. She was notably the first Jewish woman to study at Cambridge university, and she became well-known for her feminist positions as well as her romantic relationships with both male and female political and literature figures. Other works by this author include: “Xantippe and Other Verse” (1881), “The Romance of a Shop” (1888), and “Miss Meredith” (1889). As part of our poetry imprint "Ragged Hand" Read & Co. is proudly publishing this brand new collection of classic poetry complete with an introductory biography of the author by Richard Garnett.

Download or read book night thoughts written by Sarah Arvio and published by Knopf. This book was released on 2014-08-05 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this remarkable and unique work, award-winning poet Sarah Arvio gives us a memoir about coming to terms with a life in crisis through the study of dreams. As a young woman, threatened by disturbing visions, Arvio went into psychoanalysis to save herself. The result is a riveting sequence of dream poems, followed by “Notes.” The poems, in the form of irregular sonnets, describe her dreamworld: a realm of beauty and terror emblazoned with recurring colors and images—gold, blood red, robin’s-egg blue, snakes, swarms of razors, suitcases, playing cards, a catwalk. The Notes, also exquisitely readable, unfold the meaning of the dreams—as told to her analyst—and recount the enlightening and sometimes harrowing process of unlocking memories, starting with the diaries she burned to make herself forget. Arvio’s explorations lead her back to her younger self—and to a life-changing understanding that will fascinate readers. An utterly original work of art and a groundbreaking portrayal of the power of dream interpretation to resolve psychic distress, this stunning book illumines the poetic logic of the dreaming mind; it also shows us, with surpassing poignancy, how tender and fragile is the mind of an adolescent girl.

From his love for unity and harmony comes the fruit of life and living that develops from social gospel of righteousness to correct social wrongs. Thus the seed for the harvest of civil rights is planted in the green pastures of Atlanta, and the stage is set for the manifestation of his vocation in life. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tho' storm and summer shine for long have shed Or blight or bloom above thy quiet bed, Tho' loneliness and longing cry thee dead- Thou art not dead, belovèd. Still with me Are whilom hopings that encompass thee And dreams of dear delights that may not be. Asleep-adream perchance, dost thou forget The sometime sorrow and the fevered fret, Sting of salt tears and long unbreathed regret? Liest thou here thro' long sunshiny hours, Holding sweet converse with the springing flowers, Harking the singing of the warm sweet showers That fall like happy tears ... dost hear The birds that unafraid assail thine ear- And yet art silent when I whisper? Dear, Dost thou not hear? Lying so low beneath the bending grass In long, still smiling tranced for aye-alas! Thou dost not harken when my footsteps pass. If haply I some tender thing should tell Thee of the springtime flowers thou once loved well- Anemone and shining asphodel; Should steal from Nature some enchanted lay, Some bird-song lilted where green branches sway- Heart-music that could stir thy heart alway; Should call thee by the old fond name again, Should tell thee all a heart's enduring pain And long rememb'ring, would'st thou mute remain? Alas! nor sigh nor song can thrill the ear Tuned to Israfel's music in the sphere Where things to thee erst dear no more are dear. Thou dost not hear!
