Book excerpt: This unexpected and touching collection of poetry roams between the vulnerability of sadness and joy expressing themselves through a love that searches continuously for its own essence. The author's words come from an uncommon place of simplicity and honesty that touches on something universal yet at once completely personal. As the title suggests, they are poems to set free that which is intangible, misunderstood or too often denied within us and within humanity, as the varied and so often apparently opposing aspects of our psyche seek for meaning and harmony. The author too comes from an unlikely place: aged eighteen she left her home country to dedicate herself to teaching the spiritual practices of Tantra Yoga, and has since resided in various parts of the world in this capacity. Her poems at once offer insight into this often misunderstood spiritual path, whilst at the same time, perhaps surprisingly and in an uncommon act of perception and balance, are free from any unnatural imposition from it. From the Editors This collection of poems was originally published in 2019 until the title Intangible Things Set Free. Due to its interest not only as a collection of poems, but also as a book of insights into the yogic path as a spiritual search, we have decided to republish it with a new title and cover, so as to make it available to those interested in this side of the book, as well as the poetic one. When written, the author, originally from New Zealand, was working as a yogic nun, and had taught and travelled in Asia, Europe, and South America in this capacity. She had chosen this path aged eighteen and had been living in this way for around fifteen years at the time. These poems, along with their literary value, serve as a record of her reflections and experiences during this period. They also serve, therefore, as a useful point of reflection for others practising yoga and meditation, or for those interested in the search for self-awareness and the processes and development of human consciousness and emotions in general. We have included the original prologue, as we believe it will also be of interest to many readers.

Book Prayers to the Infinite

Download or read book Prayers to the Infinite written by Danna Faulds and published by . This book was released on 2004-12-01 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author of "Go In and In" and "One Soul," two popular books of yoga poetry, Danna Faulds writes from the heart of her spiritual practice. She says of this book: "When prayer began to come alive inside me, I was fascinated and embarrassed, captivated and confused. I had long since given up any rigid notion of an anthropomorphic, judging God, yet here I was in intimate dialogue with sometime bigger than myself. I didn't know quite what to make of this. Over time, as I looked closely at my prayer life, I uncovered a remarkable fact: the very act of personally addressing the Infinite opened me to a different experience of self and other, one in which I sensed divinity as an interior part of all things. Prayers are my attempt to translate into words some of my deepest inner longings. They are an offering of passion, love, fear, anxiety, gratitude and pain. Praying is one way to connect with Spirit, a doorway into the fluid and creative energy I call God, Lord, the One, Beloved, the Infinite and All That Is. Inevitably this dialogue began to find its way into my poetry, and this book is the result. It is an eclectic mix of prayer-poems and other poetry arising in my yoga and meditation practice, my observations of the natural world, and from facing life as it has come to me over the last year."

  • ISBN : 0595421555
  • Pages : 136 pages

Download or read book On This Path written by Inna Kogan and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2006-12 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: That Inna Kogan is a pulmonary specialist comes as no surprise after reading her work. Inna's poetry is concerned with breath on many levels-the breath of life, the breath of the soul, the breath of individual being. Her poems travel inward on a journey of self-discovery and outward to the reader on a path of spiritual enervation. Inna is not afraid to tackle dark components of her psyche-denial, depression, self-centeredness and crippling fears. Her poems ask difficult questions both of others-family, friends, lovers-and herself. Answers are transitory, fluid as breath, leading to deeper and deeper questioning. In addition to her own work, Kogan also presents translations of the poetry of well-known Russian psychiatrist Vladimir Levi. Levi's poems explore similar themes with a unique sense of humor, wit and stylistic language. To read Inna's poetry is to encounter a passionate literature in its most honest, uncorrupted state, like breathing pure oxygen. On This Path will open readers' hearts and minds, and move them further on their own explorative paths to wisdom.
