This book was released on 2016-10-08 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Pneumatic Despatch Tube System of the Batcheller Pneumatic Tube Co: Also Facts and General Information Relating to Pneumatic Despatch Tubes I have been prompted to prepare this book by the frequent inquiries made regarding the details of our sys tem of pneumatic tubes. These inquiries have come from people interested in our company, from others interested in companies that have purchased the right to use our apparatus, from people desirous of becoming interested in a pneumatic-tube business, from would-be purchasers of pneumatic tubes, and from people interested in pneu matic tubes from a scientific, engineering, or mechanical point of View. This book is not intended to be a treatise on pneumatic tubes. In the first Chapter I have given a brief sketch of what has been done in the application of pneumatic tubes from the earliest records to the present time. The second Chapter contains a description of the postal tubes in Philadelphia, and the third Chapter de scribes our system in detail. Following this is a short Chapter explaining the theory of pneumatic tubes, or the theory of the ow of air in long pipes, stating the more. This book was released on 2017-06-05 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea involved in the preparation of this work was to set forth in a clear and succinct style the principles of the pneumatic tubes, which the Batcheller Company have installed. The Batcheller system has been used in a number of the large cities in the cash carrier system of the commercial houses, but the most interesting application has probably been the postal tube service in the city of Philadelphia. The first few chapters are devoted to historical matters, and the system in Philadelphia receives the greatest share of attention. It cannot be considered that the Batcheller system was in any way a pioneer, for the telegraph companies have for years operated pneumatic tube systems connecting their central offices with important branch offices. The detail and method of accomplishing results in Philadelphia are very interesting, and the work is very thoroughly illustrated. The final chapter treats of principles and general information, and is the only effort to treat the theory and laws involved. As the title of the work implies it is almost distinctly a treatise on the Batcheller system and cannot be considered a general reference book of the principles and details of pneumatic transmission. --Electrical Engineering, Vol. 11

Book Manual of Hospital Planning and Designing

Download or read book Manual of Hospital Planning and Designing written by Ajay Garg and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-29 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a one-stop resource on all the critical aspects of planning and designing hospitals, one of the most complex healthcare projects to undertake. A well-planned and designed hospital should control infection rate, provide safety to patients, caregivers and visitors, help improve patients' recovery and have scope for future expansion and change. Reinforcing these basic principles, guidance on such effective planning and designing is the key focus. Readers are offered insights into eliminating shortcomings at every stage of setting up a hospital which may not be feasible to rectify later on through alterations. Chapters from 1 to 12 of the book provide exhaustive notes on initial planning, such as detailed project reports, feasibility studies, and area calculation. Chapters 13 to 27 include designing and layout of all the essential departments/units such as OPD, emergency, intermediate care, diagnostics, operating rooms, and intensive care units. Chapters 28 to 37 cover designing support services like sterilization department, pharmacy, medical gas pipeline, kitchen, laundry, medical record, and mortuary. Chapters 38 to 48 take the readers through planning other services like air-conditioning and ventilation, fire safety, extra low voltage, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services. Chapter 49 is for the planning of medical equipment. A particular chapter on "Green" hospital designing is included. This book is a single essential tabletop reference for hospital consultants, medical and hospital administrators, hospital designers, architecture students, and hospital promoters.

Book Pneumatic Conveying Design Guide

Download or read book Pneumatic Conveying Design Guide written by David Mills and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pneumatic Conveying Design Guide is a guide for the design of pneumatic conveying systems and includes detailed data and information on the conveying characteristics of a number of materials with a wide range of properties. This book includes logic diagrams for design procedures and scaling parameters for the conveying line configuration. It also explains how to improve the performance of pneumatic conveyors by optimizing, uprating, and extending the system or adapting it for a change of material. This book consists of 15 chapters divided into three sections and opens with an overview of the state of the art on pneumatic conveying, along with definitions of the terms used in pneumatic conveying. The next chapter describes the various types of pneumatic conveying systems and the parameters that influence their capabilities in terms of material flow rate and conveying distance. The discussion then turns to feeding and discharging of the conveying line; selection of a pneumatic conveying system for a particular application; and design procedures for pneumatic conveying system. The theory and use of compressed air in pneumatic conveying are also considered, along with the effect of material properties on conveying performance; troubleshooting; and operational problems and some solutions. The final chapter is devoted to the use of bench-scale test methods to determine the material properties relevant to pneumatic conveying. This monograph is intended for designers and users of pneumatic conveying systems.
